Three top ten announced for the ATP Los Cabos 2022

The Mifel Tennis Open will be attended by three elite tennis players who are part of the Top10: the Russian Daniil Medvedev (No.2), the Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime (No.9) and the British Cameron Norrie (No.10). ), current defending champion.
The tournament, belonging to the ATP 250 category, will take place from August 1-6 in Los Cabos, BCS. To complete what will be the best draw in the history of the Mifel Tennis Open, the American John Isner (No. 27) joins, who has surprised with his magnificent season in doubles. “We are delighted to have these great players; it is very rare, perhaps even historic, to have 3 top tens in a 250 tournament. It will be a spectacle for the Los Cabos public to see someone of Daniil Medvedev’s level play” commented the tournament director, José Antonio Fernández.
Medvedev, champion of the US Open 2021, owner of 13 ATP titles and finalist in the Australian Open 2022, attended the Mexican Tennis Open in Acapulco in February and was captivated by the reception of the Mexican public. The Russian, who is only 10 points away from regaining the first position in the world ranking, is one of the best candidates for the crown at the ATP 250 in Los Cabos.
Another contender for the Los Cabos title will be Auger-Aliassime, after this year he won his first title on tour: the ATP 500 in Rotterdam. The Canadian is one of the players under 22 looking to stay in the Top-10 for a long time under the support of renowned Spanish coach Toni Nadal.
After reaching his first title at the Mifel Tennis Open 2021, the Englishman Cameron Norrie had a turning point in his career, since some time later he achieved his greatest victory, crowning himself in the Indian Wells Master 1000 and recently in Delray Beach; resulting in his debut in the Top Ten.
This year the second edition will be held in the new home of the Tournament, Cabo Sports Complex (CSC), a first-class multifunctional venue to host sporting, cultural and entertainment events. This magnificent venue, through its open spaces, communes with the natural environment of this prestigious tourist destination. “We came back stronger than ever. After two years of absence, we formally inaugurate our new home, Cabo Sports Complex, with 3 of the 10 best players in the world. I am convinced that the public of Los Cabos will enjoy this historic edition very much”, commented Fernández.
CSC, opened in 2021, is located on a 5-hectare site and has an 8,000-m2 esplanade. It has a stadium with capacity for 3,500 fans, a Grandstand for 1,500 people and three fields that can be adapted to receive up to 400 spectators.
According to the downward behavior of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Mifel Tennis Open 2022 will be played behind open doors with a full capacity. The ATC Safety Program, created by the organizing committee in conjunction with the Association of Professional Tennis Players (ATP) and local authorities, will be the one who will dictate the protocols to follow for these dates.
