Bisbee Tournaments Celebrate Their 45th Edition with Tradition, Innovation, and Community Projects in Los Cabos

This year, 2025, the Bisbee Tournaments celebrate their 45th edition, a journey that began in May 1982 at the historic Hotel Finisterra. Over more than four decades, the tournament has weathered hurricanes, consolidated its international prestige, and this year, it introduces new features that make it particularly special.
Bisbee’s Beer and Bisbee’s Bourbon
In collaboration with Fat Tuna, different varieties of Bisbee beer will be introduced throughout October. Luis Valencia of The Kitchen Co. will explain this launch in detail.
Wayne Bisbee is working on the final details to bring the highly anticipated Bisbee’s Bourbon to Los Cabos. This Kentucky-origin spirit will be offered in three exclusive presentations for attendees.
A Pioneering Fireboat in Mexico
One of the most significant announcements is the incorporation of a 30-foot fireboat, designed and built in La Paz by Engineer Servando Lu. This historic project will be the first in the country operated directly by a fire department to respond to emergencies in the Cabo San Lucas harbor.
The vessel is equipped with two outboard engines, a four-outlet fire pump, firefighting foam, and its own skid.
Jaqueline Liceaga, president of the Operations and Maintenance Committee, reported that work is still underway to obtain its registration and maritime safety certificate, essential requirements before its official launch.
The commissioning of this vessel has led to the creation of a Volunteer Firefighter substation in Cabo San Lucas, which entails new infrastructure, financing, and personnel requirements. Liceaga announced that a plan will be implemented to provide this substation with the necessary resources for its sustainable operation.
This project fulfills a long-held dream of commanders like Engineer Manuel Basauri, who had already promoted similar initiatives in the past. Although IGY Marina currently has emergency systems, the arrival of this vessel represents a milestone for local maritime safety.
The Monumental Clock of Cabo San Lucas
Another major announcement is the upcoming inauguration of the Monumental Clock in Plaza Rotaria, a project with more than 25 years of history.
The idea originated within the Cabo San Lucas Rotary Club, and after years of negotiations, it came to fruition thanks to the support of Rotary clubs in the region. The clock will feature three faces, representing each of the Bisbee tournaments held in Los Cabos.
Manufactured by Relojes Centenario of Zacatlán de las Manzanas, Puebla, the design was refined by Architect Paolo, and the construction is being led by Architect Luis Riverón, who took on the challenge without charging professional fees.
The clock is located on the site known as Plaza Rotaria, at the intersection of Lázaro Cárdenas Boulevard, 16 de Septiembre Street, and Narciso Mendoza Street, where a pedestrian access has recently been opened around the hedge surrounding the base of the monument.
Tradition with a Vision for the Future
The 45th edition of the Bisbee Tournaments confirms that this event is not only synonymous with world-class sport fishing, but also a driver of innovation and community engagement in Los Cabos.
