International Talent and Mexican Presence Highlight the WWT Championship Field in Los Cabos

The WWT Championship, one of the most anticipated tournaments on the PGA TOUR, brings together a field of 120 players this week, combining experience, youth, and international diversity. In total, the competitors have amassed 94 victories on the circuit, led by Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker, both with nine career titles.
The competition will feature a strong Latin American presence. Representing Mexico will be Emilio Gil Leyva, from Culiacán, and Alejandro Madariaga, from Puebla, who qualified after winning the national Mexico Qualifier and Mexico Match Play tournaments held in October. Also competing are Mexicans Emilio González, from San Miguel de Allende, and Omar Morales, from Puebla. They are joined by players from Argentina such as Emiliano Grillo, Chile Cristóbal Del Solar, Colombia Nico Echavarría and Camilo Villegas, and Puerto Rico Rafa Campos.
The event is also notable for the participation of 42 international players representing 20 different countries and territories, in addition to 27 alumni of the prestigious Cabo Collegiate, including Nick Dunlap, Austin Eckroat, Cristóbal Del Solar, and Michael Thorbjornsen.
Eight players arrive at the tournament with victories earned during the current PGA TOUR season, among them Nick Taylor (Sony Open in Hawaii), Ben Griffin (winner of two events), and Michael Brennan, who recently won the Bank of Utah Championship, thus securing his two-year membership and entry into this competition.
Among the other top names in world golf are three Major champions: J.J. Spaun, Wyndham Clark, and Francesco Molinari. Joining them is Luke Donald, captain of the European team that triumphed in the 2023 and 2025 Ryder Cup.
The WWT Championship will also serve as a showcase for young PGA TOUR prospects such as Luke Clanton, David Ford, and Gordon Sargent, who, at under 23 years old, are already among the most promising names in international golf.
Four previous champions of the tournament return to Los Cabos looking to repeat their success: Austin Eckroat (2024), Erik van Rooyen (2023), Matt Kuchar (2018), and Patton Kizzire (2017). With such a diverse and competitive field, the WWT Championship promises a week of top-level golf under the Baja California Sur sun.
