With nearly a thousand exhibiting companies, including individual hotels, hotel chains, airlines, tourist buses, wholesale travel agencies, receivers and a wide variety of companies providing tourist services of a very diverse nature, it was inaugurated last Sunday, May 22 by the Secretary of Federal Tourism Miguel Torruco Marqués in the company of the Governor of Guerrero, the 46th edition of the Tianguis de Acapulco within the framework of the Mundo Imperial tourist complex.

A spectacular inaugural party took place in “La Arena”, which is a large auditorium where all the street vendors were welcomed with the music of a symphony orchestra.

Within the framework of the celebration of the 25th anniversary of RIU Hotels, the Secretary of Tourism Miguel Torruco reported that the tourist flow increased in the last quarter:

Miguel Torruco Marqués, Secretary of Tourism of Mexico: “…: 5.1 million tourists by air, increased 135.2% more in this first quarter, we are 7.7 points away from matching the figures for 2019.

On the other hand, in terms of income, which is where the nation’s tourism potential actually has in this same period that I refer to, the first quarter of the year, 5,900 million dollars were already captured, representing 158.3% higher than which was last year, that is to say that with this trend we are already sure that for now in this first quarter we exceeded the 2019 figures by 1.2, so we were predicting that for next year we were going to exceed the 2019 figure In terms of foreign currency capture, it was not like that, fortunately now with the new trends that occur at the end of this year we will have exceeded the foreign currency that was captured in the 2019 historical maximum.

The national Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of tourism production is expected to reach 8.3%, very close to the 8.7 of 2019.

According to preliminary data for this edition, about 1,600 buyers were registered, from 47 countries representing 940 companies related to tourism, with an attendance of about 1,300 tourism professionals.

The Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, assured that only in the first quarter of 2022 has Mexico managed to distinguish itself in the tourism sector with an influx even greater than that of 2019, so without a doubt, this will be a great year of recovery and economic growth for tourist destinations in the country.
