World Wellness Day: Discover why Los Cabos is the ideal destination for self-care

Los Cabos is positioning itself as a leader in holistic wellness amid the global growth of wellness tourism, attracting visitors who spend an average of more than $3,000 per trip.
To commemorate World Wellness Day, June 14, the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) invites travelers to discover the destination’s transformative wellness offerings, from oceanfront yoga and holistic spa rituals to immersive nature experiences that nourish mind, body, and spirit. Rooted in the region’s natural beauty and cultural richness, these offerings reflect Los Cabos’ continued evolution as a premier destination for intentional and restorative travel.
Recent data from the Global Wellness Institute showed that wellness tourism generates $651 billion annually, with an expected annual spending growth of 16.6% by 2027. Los Cabos is growing to meet that demand. According to FITURCA, guests visiting Los Cabos primarily for wellness purposes reported a 91% satisfaction rate during their experience at the destination. This satisfaction is also reflected in spending, as wellness-minded visitors spend an average of $3,000 per trip, contributing to a tourism segment that is not only focused on purpose but also has an economic impact. As interest in conscious travel grows, the region is expanding its offerings. Some of these experiences include:
- Healing treatments with volcanic stones, Asian massages, and ocean-effect exfoliations are part of the range of relaxation rituals available at Nobu Los Cabos.
- At Acre Resorts, detoxifying treatments with prickly pear cactus, raindrop aromatherapy, and exfoliations are offered to calm the mind and rejuvenate the body, accompanied by birdsong and a breeze through the trees.
- Cacao ceremonies allow guests to experience transformative meditation and relief from stress, anxiety, and fatigue through warm poultices and ceremonial-grade cacao at The Cape, a Thompson Hotel; Waldorf Astoria Pedregal; Viceroy Los Cabos; and Amet Nature Retreat.
- Temazcal ceremonies, a deeply rooted pre-Hispanic tradition held in a steam room using sacred herbs, volcanic stones, and ceremonial chants to help restore the mind and spirit, are one of the holistic wellness traditions offered at Nest Baja and One & Only Palmilla.
- Energy balancing, based on ancient healing using warm obsidian stones and energetic quartz to dissolve tension and restore energetic harmony, is available at the Four Seasons Cabo Del Sol.
- Thalassotherapy, unique to the Baja California region, along with hydrotherapy pools, aromatherapy, a wide selection of massages, and private treatment rooms, makes up an exclusive menu of carefully curated restorative therapies available to guests of The Club at Solaz.
- A four-day immersive yoga retreat experience, including guided yoga and meditation sessions, Pilates, and set against the backdrop of San José del Cabo, is available at the Drift Hotel.
- Qi Gong, ice bath immersion, and breathwork are just some of the rejuvenating experiences offered by Eforea Wellness Day, a luxury retreat available at the Hilton Los Cabos in commemoration of World Wellness Day.
- Cold water immersions, cacao healing experiences, biomagnetic therapy—the only one available in Mexico—and a variety of holistic treatments are available to guests of the Viceroy Los Cabos, which offers a holistic wellness experience in its 11,000-square-foot full-service luxury spa.
“Wellness is not just another social media trend; it’s a mindset that influences the way people travel, both within and outside of our destination,” said Rodrigo Esponda, General Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board. “Los Cabos offers a wide range of wellness experiences, from world-class spas at luxury properties to affordable options throughout the destination, allowing every traveler to incorporate wellness into their vacation. Creating a comprehensive wellness ecosystem is fundamental to our vision for Los Cabos, and we are uniquely positioned to meet this growing demand, thanks to the addition of more than 900 hotel rooms between 2025 and 2027.”
Los Cabos is committed to sustainable wellness practices that ensure tourism benefits local communities and preserves the integrity of the destination. Through ongoing collaborations with local healers and the promotion of eco-friendly initiatives, the Tourism Trust is committed to preserving ancestral wellness traditions for future generations.
“For nearly two decades, I have championed wellness through my experience and academic work,” said Ofelia Bojorquez, a Los Cabos wellness expert. On World Wellness Day, I am honored to see how sacred practices, such as yoga, breathwork, Sacred Technologies, and ancestral medicine, flourish in Los Cabos, where a deeper understanding of wellness is emerging.
As Los Cabos continues to evolve as a premier wellness destination, its commitment to integrating luxury with authentic and restorative experiences remains steadfast. With a growing array of world-class offerings and a profound respect for its natural and cultural heritage, Los Cabos invites travelers to embark on a journey of profound wellness, discovering not just a vacation, but a transformative path to holistic health and rejuvenation.
