Mexico City, June 18, 2025.- Italian Lorenzo Musetti, No. 7 in the PIF ATP Rankings, along with Andrey Rublev (No. 14), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokina (No. 28), Canadian Denis Shapovalov (No. 31), and Australian Jordan Thompson (No. 37 and champion in 2024) are confirmed as the star players for the ninth edition of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel. Oppo 2025, which will be played between July 14 and 19, 2025, at the Cabo Sport Complex in Los Cabos.
Musetti will arrive at the Mexican ATP 250 ranking with impressive momentum following the clay season, in which he became the fifth player in history to reach the semifinals of all three clay-court Masters 1000s (Monte Carlo, Madrid, and Rome) and Roland Garros, the second Grand Slam of the year.
Meanwhile, Rublev spent more than 230 weeks in the world’s top 10 by May, having held a position there since October 2020. This year, he added his 17th ATP Tour title with a victory in Doha and is one of the tournament favorites based on his resume.
“At Mextenis, we continue working to bring the best players on the ATP Tour to Mexico. Every year we put together a better field for Los Cabos, and for this ninth edition, we have a solid roster that even brings new faces to the destination,” tournament director José Antonio Fernández said in a press conference.
He noted that Musetti and Rublev will be joined by Davidovich-Fokina, a finalist at the ATP 500 in Acapulco, Shapovalov, and Jordan Thompson, the 2024 champion who won the singles and doubles titles with his compatriot Max Purcell.
He also highlighted the presence of British representative Cameron Norrie (No. 61), champion in Los Cabos in 2021 and finalist in 2022, as well as Frenchman Quentin Halys (No. 48).
He noted that after the winter experience in 2024, the tournament returns to the summer, with better weather for both players and fans.
Fernández explained that the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo also worked “on a very special agenda in which gastronomy and entertainment take center stage” with the Mextenis Experiences 2025.
“These are activities for the whole family, including Kids Nite, Mextenis Talks, Players Party, Family Day, Tennis Golf, and the Closing Party,” he noted. Both Kids Nite and Mextenis Talks, where fans can purchase tickets to listen to conversations with the tournament’s key players, are activities held on the first weekend of the tournament, alongside the two days of qualifying, where children under 12 can enter free of charge.
The last edition in 2024 had an attendance of 34,746 people, which Mextenis hopes to improve, and generated an economic impact of 129.7 million pesos.
He also announced that one of the three wildcards will go to Mexican Rodrigo Pacheco (No. 259), who excelled at the Abierto Mexicano Telcel presented by HSBC earlier this year and will seek to thrill local fans with his talent once again.
Tickets are 100% digital to ensure the comfort and safety of fans attending the Cabo Sports Complex and are now on sale at loscabostennisopen.com
