World No. 7 and reigning U.S. Open champion J.J. Spaun and world No. 13 Ben Griffin are among the first players confirmed for the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship

In its third year in Los Cabos, the event will also welcome Luke Donald, Tony Finau, and defending champion Austin Eckroat.
J.J. Spaun and Ben Griffin, ranked No. 7 and No. 13 respectively in the Official World Golf Ranking and members of Team USA in this week’s Ryder Cup, are among the first players confirmed to compete in the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship, to be held November 6-9 in Los Cabos, Mexico. Joining Spaun and Griffin are reigning champion Austin Eckroat, as well as European Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald and two-time Ryder Cup participant Tony Finau.
“It’s an honor for us to welcome these great and important players to the field this year,” said Tournament Director Joe Mazzeo. “We invite all residents of Los Cabos to join us during tournament week to witness a great spectacle of golf and enjoy PGA TOUR action, along with all the fun and excitement of this world-class event.”
Spaun has enjoyed an exceptional professional year in 2025, highlighted, of course, by his victory at Oakmont Country Club in the 125th U.S. Open, which marked his first career major. His season also included a total of seven top-10 finishes, with runner-up finishes at the PLAYERS Championship, the FedEx St. Jude Championship, and the Cognizant Classic.
Griffin, a 29-year-old World Wide Technology ambassador, earned his first professional wins in 2025, capturing the Zurich Classic and Charles Schwab Challenge, propelling him to a career-high ranking that remains the same. Additionally, in 2025, Griffin placed second at the Memorial Tournament presented by Workday and last week’s Procore Championship, both of which were defeated by World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.
Donald has played in four Ryder Cups and served as an assistant captain twice before being named captain in 2022. This week, he will attempt to lead Europe to its second consecutive team victory. Donald is a former World No. 1 and has earned 11 career wins on the PGA TOUR and DP World Tour. Six-time PGA TOUR winner Tony Finau has also been confirmed for Los Cabos, returning to the WWT Championship for the first time since 2022. Continuing the Ryder Cup theme, Finau was a member of the winning U.S. team in 2021 at Whistling Straits.
Eckroat returns to defend his title, which he won last year by one stroke, earning his second victory of the year and of his PGA TOUR career. The 26-year-old became the second consecutive WWT Championship winner to shoot a final-round 63. By hoisting the iconic Cabo Arch trophy, Eckroat, the “Cabo Kid,” earned his second victory in Los Cabos, having also won the Cabo Collegiate Championship as an Oklahoma State amateur in 2019.
The PGA TOUR, which showcases the world’s best golfers competing on iconic golf courses, will bring together 120 players who will compete in 72 holes of stroke play as part of the FedExCup season. This tournament will award 500 FedExCup points.
Diamante Cabo San Lucas will once again host the WWT Championship, the oldest and most successful PGA TOUR tournament in Mexico. The host course, El Cardonal, opened in 2014, is the first golf course designed by TGR Design and 82-time PGA TOUR winner Tiger Woods.
All four rounds will be televised and distributed worldwide through the extensive PGA TOUR network, including Golf Channel in the United States and Golf Channel Latin America in Mexico and throughout Latin America. Internationally, PGA TOUR coverage is available in more than 200 countries and territories in 26 languages through 44 streaming and digital partners.
