The “Mar y Christmas” Nautical Festival was a resounding success in Cabo San Lucas Bay

With broad community participation and an inclusive approach, the “Sea and Christmas” Nautical Festival took place on December 13th and 14th in Cabo San Lucas Bay, solidifying its position as an event that strengthens the maritime identity and holiday traditions of the municipality.
The festival was supported by the Federal Tourism Secretariat (Sectur) and bore the “Made in Mexico” seal, reaffirming its contribution to promoting events with national identity and a tourism focus. The activities were carried out in coordination with the XV Los Cabos City Council, headed by Mayor Christian Agúndez Gómez, through various municipal departments.
The festivities began on Saturday, December 13th, at El Médano Beach with the “Sea and Christmas Kayaks & Paddle” program, a fully inclusive event for children and young people from the autism community, who participated in a Christmas-themed circuit. This activity reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to social inclusion and equitable access to recreational and sports spaces.
On Sunday, December 14, the traditional Sea and Christmas Nautical Parade took place, in which 25 illuminated boats sailed through the bay of Cabo San Lucas, marking the beginning of the holiday season and bringing together hundreds of families at the Marina, El Médano Beach, and Corsario Beach.
The Los Cabos City Council was represented by staff from the Municipal Tourism Department, headed by Ana Gabriela Navarro, as well as the Municipal Institute for the Development and Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (IMDIS), directed by Fernando Altamirano, and received support from the Cabo San Lucas Delegation, headed by Karina de la O Uribe.
Similarly, staff from the Municipal Institute for the Development and Inclusion of People with Disabilities (IMDIS) participated in the Sea and Christmas festival, taking part in the traditional Christmas nautical parade. They helped decorate the Panamar vessel with lights, enthusiastically joining in this celebration that promotes family unity and the Christmas spirit. In this regard, the director of IMDIS Los Cabos, Fernando Ulises Altamirano Valdez, highlighted the importance of participating in recreational events that strengthen social inclusion, as well as the ongoing support of the mayor, architect Christian Agúndez Gómez, whose backing has been fundamental in promoting accessibility and inclusion initiatives, with the firm objective of consolidating Los Cabos as the most inclusive municipality in Mexico.
The event also benefited from the support of the Federal Ministry of Tourism, through its Director of Northern Destinations and Regulatory Facilitation, Juan Carlos Delgado, as well as the participation of local artisans, merchants, and entrepreneurs, who formed part of a lively street fair set up at various points along the marina, generating a positive impact on the local economy.
During the festival, artistic and cultural expression was also promoted, with a performance by the Música en Marcha Orchestra from the El Caribe Community Development Center, in addition to the installation of a Christmas village that allowed entire families to participate.
The event was carried out without incident, thanks to the coordination with maritime and port authorities, including ASIPONA, the Port Captaincy, IGY Marinas, and security agencies, which ensured the orderly and safe development of the activities.
The festival concluded with a fireworks display that illuminated the sky over Cabo San Lucas, creating a scene representative of the holiday season.
