Los Cabos Maintains Tourism Growth and Consolidates its High-End Offerings

Orcí

Los Cabos continues to demonstrate solid performance in tourism, bucking the national trend, by registering growth in arrivals and maintaining healthy occupancy levels, highlighted Lilzi Orcí, executive president of the Los Cabos Hotel Association, during an interview broadcast on Facebook Live and on Cabo Mil radio station 96.3 FM.

The hotelier explained that, although a slight decrease in visitor numbers, particularly from abroad, has been observed nationwide, Los Cabos has not experienced a significant drop. On the contrary, the destination reports an approximate 1.5 percent increase in arrivals, even as its hotel inventory has grown with new openings.

Among the recent projects is the opening of the Park Hyatt in Cabo del Sol, a development that in recent years has attracted investments from luxury brands, such as the Four Seasons, which opened a couple of years ago, and the announcement of a new Soho hotel that could begin operations in 2026. These projects, Orsi noted, reflect the consolidation of the destination and the confidence of international investors.

He indicated that the goal set for 2025 was to match the results of the previous year, a goal that already represented a significant achievement compared to other sun and beach destinations facing negative figures. Currently, Los Cabos maintains an average annual occupancy rate of between 70 and 71 percent, considered favorable for job creation and for sustaining solid revenue in the hotel sector.

Orcí emphasized that the destination’s strategy has focused on high-end, more conscious, and less mass tourism, which translates into a higher average rate and greater spending per visitor. This positioning has allowed Los Cabos to lead the national tourism indicators, especially during peak season and the December holiday period.

Regarding the challenges, he acknowledged the need for tourism growth to go hand in hand with strengthening municipal infrastructure, particularly in areas such as the supply of drinking water. He explained that new hotel developments have desalination and treatment plants as a response to the water stress the municipality faces, and that the Hotel Association participates in health and sanitation committees to promote long-term solutions.

Finally, he noted that one of the sector’s main objectives is to contribute to a more efficient water supply to communities, in coordination with municipal authorities and the water utility, in order to ensure balanced and sustainable tourism development for Los Cabos in the coming years.
