The International Tourism Fair opens its 46th edition with the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen and Mexico as Partner Country

FITUR 2025 is being held from January 21 to 25 at IFEMA MADRID with a full professional agenda, following a record-breaking first day with more than 52,000 visitors.

Madrid, January 22, 2026 – FITUR, the International Tourism Fair organized by IFEMA MADRID, celebrated the opening of its 46th edition with the presence of Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain, received by José Vicente de los Mozos, President of the Executive Committee of IFEMA MADRID; Isabel Díaz Ayuso, President of the Community of Madrid; Jordi Hereu, Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism; and José Luis Martínez Almeida, Mayor of Madrid, accompanied by a large delegation of national and regional authorities, ministers, government representatives, and leaders from the tourism sector worldwide.

During the inauguration, the authorities toured the pavilions of the Exhibition Center to learn about the offerings of companies and destinations present at FITUR 2026. Among the highlights was Mexico, located in Pavilion 3, which is participating as a Partner Country in this edition. Accompanied by various Mexican dignitaries, the Secretary of State for Tourism, Josefina Rodríguez Zamora, and the Mexican Ambassador to Spain, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, welcomed Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain at the country’s stand.

Also noteworthy was the visit to the Knowledge Pavilion, located in Pavilion 12, where, during the professional sessions—Wednesday, January 21, Thursday, January 22, and Friday, January 23—more than 250 experts from around the world contributed to the dissemination of best practices and knowledge, in addition to bringing together more than 190 travel technology companies.

To conclude their visit, Their Majesties… The King and Queen have signed the book of condolences for the victims of the Adamuz train accident, located at the Andalusia stand.

With the participation of more than 10,000 companies from 161 countries, 111 of them with official representation, FITUR is being held until this Sunday, January 25, showcasing its offerings across nine pavilions. Thus, the fair consolidates itself, once again, as the largest global tourism platform, a key space for the exchange of knowledge and experiences, the generation of business opportunities, and the discovery of destinations from around the world.
