“The recovery of the tourism industry in the country requires the coordination and concurrence of all the actors in this matter,” said the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability (SETUES), Luis Humberto Araiza López, when participating in the first session and installation of the 2020 National Tourism Conference, headed by the head of the federal branch, Miguel Torruco Marqués.

Araiza López commented that with the installation of this collaborative body between the three levels of government, the planning and programming of the activity is sought throughout the national territory, under criteria of social benefit, sustainability, competitiveness and economic development, mentioning that from the activation of this instrument, work will be done on strategies and mechanisms to strengthen the industry. For this, two action plans were presented: the alignment of the States to the national tourism policy established in the 2020/2024 Sector Program; and the application of the Tourist Regionalization model, through which destinations will be supported considering their different productive variables.

The head of the SETUES stressed that the National Tourism Conference reinforces the relationship that each of the Secretariats of Mexico have with SECTUR, allowing the sum of efforts and the creation of common agendas aimed at assuming and facing the challenges that the new normality and the Covid-19 pandemic, for which it ratified Baja California Sur’s commitment to join forces and create synergy so that all of Mexico recovers its tourism potential; and in turn, all the productive sectors linked to this value chain are restored.
