With a billboard made up of highly prestigious artists such as Cecilia Toussaint, Marionetas de la Esquina A.C. Jacobo Vélez and La Mambanegra, Alejandro Falcón and Rodrigo Sosa, Francisca Valenzuela, as well as Manasi Prasad, Goran Bregović and Selma Uamusse, kicked off the Cervantino International Festival this Saturday

The inauguration of this important event was in charge of Mayor Oscar Leggs Castro, who asserted that Today as never before, the Municipal Government supports music, dance, plastic arts, our artisans, theater, cinema and those who they are committed to rescuing and preserving our traditions: “in this great event that we inaugurate this afternoon, the Cervantino International Festival Circuit, our great objective is to open the horizons of our citizens to other artistic and cultural expressions,” he indicated.

 

Likewise, the municipal president highlighted, feeling very honored that the greatest cultural festival in Latin America is presented in our municipality and that soon the Cabeña and Sudcalifornian culture, through our artists, will be part of the festival itself in future editions: “since I took protest and throughout this first year of government, we have given impetus and support like never before to cultural projects of all kinds, because as a career professor I am widely convinced that investing in the cultural and academic development of a population and especially of our young people, we generate citizens with a high sense of humanity and belonging, generous and fraternal,'' he added.

 

For her part, the director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts of Los Cabos, Irene Román, indicated that these types of festivals seek to tear down walls, cross borders and break protocols through culture: “in Los Cabos we are leading the practice working under a deep human sense and therefore, with a deep love for each of its inhabitants so that cultural activities abound in the neighborhoods and communities, in the social environments most affected by poverty, social and family disintegration , additions and criminal violence'', he pointed out.

 

To conclude, Mayor Oscar Leggs Castro invited citizens to enjoy and learn about artistic expressions from different countries, such as Chile, Cuba, Argentina, Colombia, Serbia, India, Portugal or Mozambique: "let's open our minds, our senses and above all our soul and our heart to the art of the world. welcome to Los Cabos, Festival Internacional Cervantino ’,’ he concluded.
