#LosCabos11 returns in person and with great surprises, find out!

Festival de Cine

In its eleventh edition, the Los Cabos International Film Festival returns in person to offer a film banquet, as well as parallel activities that will take the viewer to experience, for five days, a flurry of emotions and reflections on the various realities that today Today they travel the world.

Cinemex, an ally for almost a decade, will open its doors from November 9 to 13 as the main venue for #LosCabos11 in Puerto Paraíso. The Inaugural Gala will take place here, where Darren Aronofsky's acclaimed film The Whale, starring Brendan Fraser, will be screened; and the Closing and Awards Gala, where the Sin Fronteras Award will be presented to the Mexican actor and producer Tenoch Huerta, for his work in favor of the inclusion, diversity and visibility of Latin American talent in the film industry. As part of this tribute we will screen: Días de Gracia (Mexico), by Everardo Gout; and Güeros (Mexico) by Alonso Ruizpalacios, winner of the Los Cabos Competition Award in 2014.

In its rooms we can also enjoy the programming gathered in the competitive sections of the Official Selection: Los Cabos Competition and La Baja Inspira. We are proud to announce that the Jury that will choose the winning film of La Baja Inspira will be made up of distinguished personalities from Los Cabos linked to the film industry: the filmmaker and VFX specialist Hugo Javier Payén -who this year was in charge of directing our cinemaminute–, the photographer Elizabeth Moreno Damm and the cultural promoter Efraín Torres.

It is important to mention that two out-of-competition titles are added to this section, with which we pay homage to the beautiful region that gives the festival its name: Las rutas de Harry Crosby (The Journeys of Harry Crosby, United States), by Isaac Artenstein; and Amores incompletos (Mexico), by Gilberto González Penilla. The latter, in addition to being shown at Cinemex, can also be enjoyed in an open-air function on Friday, November 11 at 8:00 p.m. at Once Once (San José del Cabo), a space designed to create experiences inspired by art, music and sport. Its director and actor Manuel Landeta will be present.

Hand in hand with the Plaza Cívica of the community of La Playa, we will have a second performance under the stars on Saturday, November 12 at the same time, where La recua will be presented, a documentary by Trudi Angell and Darío Higuera Meza, which in the The 2021 edition won the Los Cabos Press Award, in addition to becoming one of the audience's favorites.

Similarly, in our programming we open a space that invites us to reflect on the urgency of environmental conservation through the Green section, made up of Patrick and the Whale (Austria), on the intimate relationship between a diver and a huge female sperm whale; All That Breathes (United Kingdom, India, United States), where two brothers dedicate their lives to protecting the Black Kite, a bird victim of pollution in Delhi; and Elephant Mother (UK), about Lek Chailert, a Thai tribal woman who rescues elephants from abuse in the tourist industry while facing threats from the mafia. Three documentaries where the titanic effort of its protagonists generates a message of hope and a space for reflection so that we seek to inhabit a better world.

This return could not miss two of the sections most anticipated by our followers: After Dark, with four unusual perspectives that open their doors to enigmatic and disturbing worlds, with stories such as Cría sinister (Hatching, Finland), by Hanna Bergholm; the long-awaited new play by Luca Guadagnino Hasta los ojos (Bones and All, Italy, United States); Nanny (United States), by Nikyatu Jusu and Sick of Myself (Norway, Sweden), by Kristoffer Borgli.

And World Highlights, where we find inspiring stories made by some of the most important international directors: As Bestas (Spain, France), by Rodrigo Sorogoyen; No Bears (Iran), by Iranian master Jafar Panahi; Holy Spider (Denmark, Germany, Sweden, France), by Ali Abbasi; The spirits of the island (The Banshees of Inisherin, Ireland, United Kingdom, United States), by Anglo-Irish Martin McDonagh, and Peter von Kant (France), by François Ozon.

Starting tomorrow, the public will be able to pre-sale access tickets to the performances from cinemex.com, at a cost of $60.00 pesos.

And finally, #LosCabos11 will dress up with the presence of national talent such as: Maya Zapata, Paulina Gaitán, Ana Valeria Becerril, Leo Deluglio, Teresa Ruíz, Alfonso Dosal, Paulina Dávila, Sandra Echeverría, Eréndira Ibarra, Gonzalo García Vivanco, Christian Chávez, Michelle Renaud, Matías Novoa, Mayra Hermosillo and Manuel Landeta.
