The Secretary of Fisheries, Aquaculture and Agricultural Development, José Alfredo Bermúdez Beltrán, participated in the First Annual Forum on Sport Fishing, a framework in which he highlighted the great potential offered by our entity for this sport-recreational activity, which constitutes one of the fundamental pillars of the South Californian tourism industry.

The head of SEPADA established that this sector generates more than 5,000 direct jobs and 26,000 indirect jobs in the entity, in addition to having 1,123 boats in the five municipalities, estimating that the economic benefit that comes from sport fishing in annual average exceeds 3 billion pesos.

In his speech before local and federal legislators, public servants of the three levels of government and representatives of the sport fishing sector, he assured that the issues in this matter not only refer to vessels, crew, species and permits, but must also include all those providers of complementary services that necessarily benefit or harm according to how the activity is carried out.

On the other hand, he added that in coordination with community committees and civil society organizations, more than 50 sport fishing tournaments are scheduled in communities ranging from urban centers to remote communities in our state geography. These tournaments favor coexistence and family recreation, in addition to promoting a significant economic benefit due to the demand for goods and services.

Finally, he expressed his confidence that this first annual forum on Sport Fishing will contribute to the identification and design of public policies that affect the strengthening of this sector, while he wished the greatest success in the development of the work. , ensuring that the South Californians who participate in the activity have the support of the State Government through SEPADA and FONMAR
