Los Cabos is once again closer to Spain this summer thanks to the direct flight that Iberojet, an airline of Ávoris Corporación Empresarial, has resumed this Monday, June 26 with an A350. This first connection has had an occupation factor close to 100%.

Iberojet will operate this route once a week -on Mondays- until September 11, departing at 12:30 p.m. from the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport and returning at 5:35 p.m. from the Los Cabos aerodrome.

Rodrigo Esponda, general director of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust, has been "very excited to once again have a direct connection with Spain that allows more visitors to discover a unique Mexico where nature, good gastronomy, the quality of its tourist offer and security. I am convinced that the direct Iberojet flight will stimulate the market and encourage more tourists to visit us also outside of the summer season, for example, in December when up to five species of whales can be seen on the peninsula. We are confident that with all the marketing and promotional actions that we are carrying out, together with the wide range of experiences that the destination offers, we will be able to attract 8,000 Spanish visitors this 2023”.

For his part, José Ignacio Lugo, deputy general director of Iberojet, has expressed that “we once again directly unite Spain with Los Cabos, Baja California Sur. An operation that we inaugurated last year to this destination as an exciting bet and that the excellent response from Spanish travelers confirmed to us that it was a great success, we are therefore confident that this year it will have the same or even better results than last year”.

Maribel Collins, Secretary of Tourism and Economy of Baja California Sur, highlighted the following: "...the arrival of the direct flight from Madrid to Los Cabos represents a significant milestone for tourism and the economy of Baja California Sur. This air connection does not not only strengthens the ties between Spain and our region, but also generates a positive impact, such as the creation of jobs in the state and the promotion of tourism and local commerce. We are committed to continue promoting and strengthening the tourism industry in Baja California Sur , and we thank all the parties involved who have made this new route possible. We look forward to receiving travelers with open arms and offering them unique experiences in our destination. We trust that this air connection will promote a prosperous and lasting relationship between Spain and Baja California South".

Los Cabos received more than 3.5 million tourists last year, 20% more than in 2021. Most of them came from the United States and Canada, its two main foreign source markets for Los Cabos, with Spain being the third most important thanks to the direct flight. In 2022 around 4,000 Spanish tourists visited the destination, some 3,200 only through the direct route.
