Governor Víctor Castro Cosío led the inaugural ceremony of the Monterrey-La Paz-Monterrey flight by the Volaris airline, which will have two weekly frequencies; Thursday and Sunday, with a capacity for 180 passengers, which represents approximately 15,000 tourists a year to the destination La Paz.

In the presence of the head of the Ministry of Tourism and Economy (SETUE) in the entity, Maribel Collins, the mayor Milena Quiroga, the representative of Volaris, Neiyarit López, the state executive also highlighted the start of the direct flight that will connect Guanajuato (in the Bajío) with the state capital, which will have two weekly frequencies; Tuesday and Saturday.

"We are very happy because air connectivity in Baja California Sur is growing steadily and opening up to the diversification of the national market, connecting with new destinations that serve as points to attract more tourists from other parts of the Republic, as in these cases, routes that connect our capital with Monterrey, Nuevo León and Guanajuato, Guanajuato," he said.

The Secretary of Tourism, Maribel Collins Sánchez, also thanked Volaris for trusting the destinations of the entity, since this company has put into operation 6 direct routes that connect the 3 international airports with the interior of the Mexican Republic, as well as the willingness to continue evaluating other destinations.

Collins Sánchez announced that with these two new routes, La Paz would receive approximately 30,000 visitors a year, which would represent an economic benefit of some 120 million pesos.

Finally, the state executive asserted that the SETUE will continue to seek commercial alliances so that the tourism industry in Baja California Sur grows and develops for the benefit of South Californian families.

Also present at the event were Deputy Eduardo Van Wormer, the director of FITUPAZ Luz María Zepeda, the representative of FITUES Elizabeth Aceves and Sarahí Castro Araiza, director of the Manuel Márquez de León International Airport.
