The 2023 Bisbee's sport fishing tournaments have come to an exciting conclusion, and in a surprising twist, team "Stella June" has become the undisputed winner, taking home a record prize pool of $4.4 million. This historic event took place in Los Cabos, Mexico, and attracted anglers from around the world to compete in two simultaneous tournaments, the Black & Blue and the Los Cabos Offshore.

Team “Stella June” secured their victory by catching an impressive 368-pound black marlin on the first day of fishing. This achievement not only gave them the tournament title but also earned them the largest sum of money ever awarded in the 43-year history of Bisbee's tournaments. His prize pool consisted of $497,650 from the Los Cabos Offshore tournament and a staggering $3,906,550 million from the Black & Blue, making a total of $4,404,200 million.

This record prize eclipsed the previous record of 3.9 million dollars, which had been won by the team "Bad Company" in 2006. Clicerio Mercado, Coordinator of the Bisbee's Tournaments in Mexico, explained that the coincidence of the two tournaments, The Cabos Offshore and Black & Blue, on the same dates was the key factor in first place taking this unprecedented award.

The Rocky Mountain Hookers team also stood out in the tournament by catching a 501-pound blue marlin on the second day of fishing. This impressive achievement allowed them to take home a combined prize pool of $3,644,139 million, with $535,939 from the Los Cabos Offshore tournament and $3,108,200 million from the Black & Blue. This team, from the United States and Canada, took second place in terms of prizes.

Most notably, the Rocky Mountain Hookers team generously donated $100,000 to the Casa Hogar of Cabo San Lucas, making the awards night even more special and meaningful.

The awards dinner was held at the breakwater pier on Saturday, October 28, after two consecutive days of intense competition in both tournaments. The winning teams of each tournament received their respective symbolic checks and trophies, and the night culminated with a pyrotechnics show that illuminated the bay of Cabo San Lucas.

Clicerio Mercado, Coordinator of the Bisbee's Tournaments in Mexico, highlighted that the two captured billfish that reached the weighing scale exceeded the minimum weight required and competed in both simultaneous tournaments. This feat is a testament to the level of skill and dedication of the participating anglers.

In addition to the excitement of competition, Bisbee's tournaments also had a significant impact on the local economy. Mercado estimated that the total economic impact exceeded $40 million, since fishermen began arriving in Los Cabos on October 19, the date originally scheduled for the start of the Los Cabos Offshore tournament.

In short, the Bisbee's 2023 tournaments in Los Cabos have been an epic event that has set a new standard in sport fishing. Team "Stella June" has become legendary by winning the largest prize in tournament history, proving that a passion for fishing can be rewarded in amazing ways. Additionally, the generosity of the Rocky Mountain Hookers team in donating to a local charitable cause highlights the importance of solidarity in the fishing community. These tournaments are not only fierce competition, but also a celebration of fishing and camaraderie in a beautiful marine environment.
