On the first day of the World Wide Technology Championship, Australian golfer Cameron Percy stood out with an impressive round of 10-under par 62, earning him the tournament lead. Percy, a 49-year-old veteran, had an outstanding performance by recording an eagle and eight birdies in the afternoon, finishing the day with a two-stroke lead over his closest competitors.

The Colombian Camilo Villegas, the Argentine Tano Goya and the American duo composed of Michael Kim and Nate Lashley share second place, all two strokes behind the leader. Percy almost scored even lower, with a 9-under par in just 13 holes, but closed with four pars and a birdie on the 18th hole.

The Australian expressed his satisfaction with his performance, mentioning that he hit the ball exceptionally well, but regretted not having been able to get it close enough in the final holes. Additionally, he noted that this tournament takes place at El Cardonal, Tiger Woods' first golf course design to host a PGA TOUR event.

Both the Colombian Camilo Villegas and the Argentine Tano Goya started the tournament strongly in search of earning points to move up the FedExCup Fall rankings, which will determine the status of the players for the 2025 season. Villegas, who played in the morning, managed eight birdies to finish with a round of 64. In his own words, he was happy with his good start and for keeping the ball in play without making bogeys.

On the other hand, Tano Goya, who played in the shadows in the last group that completed the round after a suspension, managed to get into the tie for second place by closing with a birdie on the 18th hole. Despite having reached Being 9-under par with three holes to play, he suffered two consecutive bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes.

Other Latin Americans who stood out in the tournament were the Colombian Nicolás Echavarría, who finished tied for 21st place with a card of 5-under par 67, and the Mexicans Sebastián Vázquez and Isidro Benítez, who completed the round with red numbers. Sebastián Vázquez scored a 2-under par 70 and is in 73rd place, while Isidro Benítez recorded a 71 and appears in box 88. In addition, Mexican Roberto Díaz is at 1-under par with two holes to play and must resume the round on Friday at 7:30 a.m.

The World Wide Technology Championship promises to be an exciting tournament with the participation of outstanding golfers, and Cameron Percy leads the way with his exceptional performance on the first day.Cameron Percy Leads the World Wide Technology Championship with a Spectacular Round
