Every year, migrating whales visit Los Cabos to give birth to the next generation of gentle giants. During the winter months, there’s no better place to view these amazing creatures than in the Sea of Cortez, as the whales swim, eat, breed and play in the warm waters of Baja California Sur.

"When does whale watching start in Los Cabos?"

Oscar Ortiz, a talented photographer and head of Cabo Expeditions (providing outstanding eco-tours on the waters of Los Cabos), explained that whale season starts October 15th.

As this year’s whale watching season draws to a close, here are some fantastic shots of some of our recent visitors bidding goodbye to our shores before they begin their migration up north, including a mother humpback whale with her young calf.

"How close can boats get to the whales?"

"The closest a boat should be is 90 meters, and no more than 4 other boats surrounding the whales at a time.

"How was the whale watching experience?"

Wendy and Melisa "We saw whales jumping and flapping, it was just beautiful. It was beyond my expectations."

Oscar Ortiz said: "Until next season, we thank our whale friends for all the amazing shows that they have given us. Their visit to this area symbolizes for me an abundance of love, hope and harmony."
