Los Cabos Strengthens National Connectivity with New Direct Air Route to Puebla
The tourist destination of Los Cabos continues to expand its national air connectivity network with the announcement of a new direct route between Los Cabos and the city of Puebla, operated by Volaris. The flight will have four weekly frequencies and will allow the arrival of approximately 3,000 additional visitors per month.
During a press conference led by the general director of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust, Rodrigo Esponda, it was emphasized that the opening of this connection represents an important step in the strategy to strengthen the national market.
“We are very pleased to be celebrating a new origin in the national market. Puebla was a route we had been discussing and pursuing for some time,” said Esponda, who explained that the direct connection will significantly facilitate travel for visitors from Puebla to the Baja California Sur destination.
The executive pointed out that Puebla has significant potential as a source market for tourists to Los Cabos, especially due to its proximity to the Mexico City metropolitan area. Until now, a large portion of travelers made ground transportation connections to Mexico City airports before flying to the tourist destination.
For her part, Lilcy Orci highlighted the growth of domestic tourism over the last decade and asserted that the new route will further strengthen this segment.
“We are very confident that this route will be a success. Los Cabos has so much to offer, from a wide range of hotels to top-tier culinary and tourist experiences,” she stated.
Meanwhile, Francisco Villaseñor acknowledged the collaborative work carried out by tourism authorities, business leaders, and the airport industry to establish the new connection.
“A new route represents a great deal of work behind the scenes to convince an airline to once again focus on the tourist destination,” he noted.
The new route will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays with 186-seat aircraft. With this announcement, Los Cabos now has 17 active domestic routes, consolidating its position as one of the best-connected tourist destinations in the country and reinforcing its growth strategy in the domestic market.
