González and Krajicek Eliminate Olympic Champions and Advance to Semifinals in Los Cabos

On a night of comebacks and upsets in the doubles tournament of the Mifel Tennis Open by Telcel Oppo, Mexico’s Santiago González and American Austin Krajicek took a firm step toward the title by eliminating Olympic champions John Peers and Matthew Ebden of Australia.
The North American duo overcame a difficult first set and ended up winning 2-6, 6-3, 10-7, in a thrilling duel that places them among the top four in the tournament.
“In the first set, they were far superior to us. They were playing very well. In the second set, all we had to do was fight, hold our serve, and we knew they could slip at some point. It was an important victory against very tough opponents. Now it’s time to rest and think about the semifinals,” González commented after the match.

In the last scheduled match, Australians James Duckworth and Adam Walton withdrew before the start of their match, allowing their compatriots Blake Bayldon and Tristan Schoolkate to advance without playing.
