Ben Griffin Breaks Record and Wins the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship

Ben Griffin won the 2025 World Wide Technology Championship with a final round of 63 (-9) for a total of 259 (-29), setting a new 72-hole record for the tournament. The American finished two strokes ahead of Chad Ramey and Finland’s Sami Valimaki, who tied for second place with 261 (-27).

The 29-year-old Griffin secured his third victory of the 2025 PGA TOUR season, adding to his recent wins at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans (paired with Andrew Novak) and the Charles Schwab Challenge. This victory puts him in an elite group of players with multiple wins this year, joining Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy. He is projected to rise to ninth in the Official World Golf Ranking.

In his impressive performance in Los Cabos, Griffin racked up 30 birdies, an eagle, and just three bogeys over the four days of competition. He also became the third World Wide Technology Championship ambassador to win the event, following Austin Eckroat (2024) and Erik van Rooyen (2023).

Latin American Performance

The top Latin American finisher was Colombian Nico Echavarría, who carded a final round of 63 (-9) to finish with a total of 267 (-21) and tie for 14th place. Echavarría made 12 birdies and recorded his fourth PGA TOUR 63, keeping him in contention for the FedExCup Fall title and a spot in the Aon Next 10, which grants access to Signature tournaments in 2026. Argentine Emiliano Grillo finished in 56th place at -12, while Mexican Emilio González finished in 72nd place at -6. Top Mexican: Outstanding Week for Alejandro Madariaga

Debutant Alejandro Madariaga of Mexico finished with a total of 274 (-14) and tied for 46th place, becoming the top Mexican finisher in the tournament.

Madariaga, who earned his invitation to the tournament after winning the Mexico Match Play, displayed consistency throughout the competition and stated that the event provided him with “a wealth of experience” and the certainty that he has the skill to compete on the PGA TOUR.

FedExCup Fall Context

This tournament was the fifth event of the FedExCup Fall, a key series for determining players’ status heading into the 2026 season. The top 100 finishers at the end of the series will secure their full exemption for the following season, while those ranked 51st through 60th will qualify for the Aon Next 10, with access to elite events such as the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and The Genesis Invitational.
