The 13th Los Cabos International Film Festival is revamped and focused on digital audiences.

The 13th Los Cabos International Film Festival is about to begin with a completely revamped format. This was announced by its director and CEO of Lateral, Paola Desentis, in a conversation prior to the start of the event, which will be held from December 11 to 14 at multiple venues, including Cinemex in San José del Cabo, Cabo San Lucas, and special galas at Crania and Hotel El Ganzo in Puerto Los Cabos.
Desentis shared that her background in creative industries and the digital economy has directly influenced the festival’s redesign. After more than 16 years advising the Ministry of Economy on creativity and sustainability, and with experience in platforms that support the creative sector, she explained that this edition of the festival seeks to adapt to new audiences, especially digital natives and content creators.
The redesign stems from a deep reflection on the impact of the pandemic and the accelerated adoption of digital technologies. According to Desentis, the festival aims to naturally integrate disciplines such as music, digital art, and animation. In fact, although the animation showcase will be small this year, it is projected that this category will play a leading role in future editions, considering Mexico’s importance as a producer of animation and video games.
The festival also strengthens its commitment to the film industry through its two main calls for entries: Baja Inspira, which this year received more than 1,600 projects, and the Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund, which has awarded more than 43 million pesos in in-kind support. The 2025 edition brought together 96 competing projects, many of them with remarkable cultural diversity, including productions in indigenous languages.
This edition will feature 13 international films, 12 of which are national or North American premieres, backed by studios such as A24 and Netflix. Several could be contenders for awards season recognition.
Regional identity will also have a significant place. There will be works that capture the essence of Baja California Sur.
Among the highlights are the opening screening of *If I Had Legs I’d Kick You*, the Depeche Mode documentary, and a special performance by singer-songwriter Ed Maverick.
The director invited the public to review the full program at ficloscabos.org and purchase tickets at Boletia, where daily access costs 600 pesos.
The festival promises to be a unique edition, more aligned with new digital languages and, at the same time, deeply connected to the cultural identity of Los Cabos.
