During its participation in the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, Baja California Sur reinforced its international promotion strategy, focusing on comprehensive tourism circuits that connect nature, culture, and extended travel experiences. This was announced by Sandra Félix, director of the La Paz Tourism Trust, in an interview on the radio program Los Cabos a la Carta.

Sandra Félix highlighted the high volume of tourism industry representatives interested in the packages offered by the state, particularly those combining La Paz, the Sea of Cortez, and rail and sea routes. “We have had a lot of demand from agencies and press looking to create tours throughout Mexico, not only for international tourists but also for the domestic market,” she noted.

One of the products that has generated the most interest, especially in the Spanish market, is the Sea of Cortez–Copper Canyon circuit. Félix explained that this tour begins in Chihuahua, boards the Chepe train, travels down to Sinaloa, crosses by ferry, and continues along the Sea of Cortez. “It’s a circuit of about 12 days that we’re heavily promoting here at FITUR,” she stated.

Another popular attraction is the road trip along the Baja California peninsula. According to the trust director, this trip can be taken from north to south, entering through San Diego and continuing to Los Cabos, or vice versa, flying to Los Cabos and driving north. “What people are most interested in are the hidden beaches and charming tourist towns,” she commented.

Félix emphasized that, in addition to sun and sand, cultural heritage has been a major highlight at this year’s FITUR. The cave paintings of San Ignacio, San Francisco de la Sierra, Mulegé, and San Borjitas have captured the attention of visitors. “The cave paintings have been very well received, along with the mission sites,” she said. Finally, the director called for a rediscovery of the state itself. “Even for us, we must visit our own state; Baja California Sur has wonderful things to offer,” she said, highlighting the historical and natural richness that remains relatively unknown and which today is positioned as one of the region’s main tourist attractions.
