Women’s Leadership in the Tourism Sector Strengthens in Los Cabos

The 15th City Council of Los Cabos, through its Municipal Tourism Department, recognized the re-election of the 2026 Board of Directors of the Association of Women Executives in Tourism (AFEET), Baja California Sur chapter. This organization remains a benchmark for women’s leadership within the state’s tourism sector.

The Municipal Director of Tourism for Los Cabos, Ana Gabriela Navarro, explained that AFEET, founded in 1970, is the only national network that brings together women leaders in the tourism sector in Mexico. In Baja California Sur, the chapter has more than 24 active members who promote an agenda focused on professional development, the creation of public-private partnerships, and highlighting the economic impact of women’s participation in strategic positions within the industry.

During the ceremony, the 2026 Board of Directors was sworn in, headed by Jazmín Almada as president, accompanied by Sandra Félix as first vice president, Luz Acosta as second vice president, Claudia del Pino as treasurer, Paulina Noble as secretary, Susana López on the Finance Committee, and Rocío Espinosa on the Honor and Justice Committee.

As part of the program, the roundtable discussion “Women in Decision-Making in the Tourism Sector” was held, highlighting the importance of strengthening female representation in strategic tourism governance positions and continuing to create conditions that allow for equitable participation in decision-making processes that impact the destination’s development.

In 2025, the branch consolidated collaboration agreements with the municipalities of Los Cabos and La Paz, and also made progress on an agreement with the municipality of Loreto. She also held working sessions with the state tourism trusts of Loreto, Los Cabos, and La Paz, aligning efforts in promotion, professional development, and business partnerships.

In this regard, the municipal director of tourism for Los Cabos emphasized that female leadership is now a strategic factor for the competitiveness and sustainability of the destination, underscoring that when women’s talent is fostered, the entire tourism ecosystem is strengthened, and progress is made toward more balanced and inclusive development.
