THE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL OF LOS CABOS CELEBRATE’S ITS 7TH EDITION FROM NOVEMBER 7 TO 11, 2018
The Los Cabos International Film Festival will celebrate its seventh edition, November 7th to 11th, confirming its commitment to promote dialogue and cultural and commercial exchange of the North American film industry with the rest of the world, showing some of the applauded films during the most important Film festivals around the world, as well as giving voice to new generations of Mexican filmmakers.
Rodrigo Esponda, director of the Tourism Trust of Los Cabos (FITURCA), also highlighted the importance of the festival for the promotion of the destination at internationally, not only because it serves as a showcase for the celebrities attending the event, but because it is the “event that generates most media impact in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America, Europe and many other countries who are aligned with our business strategy."
As part of the new attractions of this edition, executive director Alejandra Paulín, announced that in collaboration with Casa Dorada, free movies will be performed on Medano Beach on Thursday November 8th and Friday the 9th (To obtain tickets for these Special events, it is necessary to contact the hotel's concierge area and reserve).
During this edition of the Festival free screenings in cinemas are set for San José del Cabo on Saturday the 10th and on November 11th Sunday in Cabo San Lucas.
For this edition the LCIFF has been working with local artist "El Nacho", in order to change of image of the statuettes with which the winners and tributaries of the festival will be recognized, conserving the essence of the previous editions but at the same time, paying tribute to the most emblematic marine visitors of the region: the Grey whales.
Artistic director Maru Garzón, announced among other things:
After two years absence, one of the most celebrated parallel sections of the festival returns, "After Dark", showing rise to film that explores terror and science fiction; these extreme narratives, alternate worlds that provoke and exploit our fear of the unknown.
The Mexican national talent that we will have the opportunity to meet at gala evenings include names like: Aida Lopez, Antonio Gaona, Benny Ibarra, Celina Del Villar, Dario Yazbek, Fernanda Castillo, Julio Bracho, Leonardo de Lozanne, Linda Cruz, Miguel Rodarte, Paulina Goto, Pedro de Tavira, Rebecca Jones, Sandra Echeverria, Stephanie Cayo, Tenoch Huerta and Vanessa Restrepo among others.
The festival awards amount to $ 6,995,186 pesos, distributed in 15 Official Competition prizes and Gabriel Figueroa Film Fund.
