The Mifel Tennis Open celebrates its first Family Day
As part of ATC Cares, the Mifel Tennis Open held the first edition of Family Day, a project 100% focused and designed to help the Los Cabos community where local families in vulnerable economic situations were invited.
More than 140 children and mothers gathered at the Cabo Sports Complex for a morning full of different activities seeking to enrich their development and provide essential information on health and education.
In addition to tennis clinics for children ages 2-14 in attendance, there were talks for mothers on respectful parenting and nutrition. "Everything they report is very important," commented María del Socorro Juárez, who arrived at the complex where the 6th edition of the Tournament is being held from the Juan Pablo Parish in the municipality of San Lucas.
For Geoffrey Fernández, director of the ATC, Family Day is the main legacy that he seeks to leave through sports in the destination. “It is the best thing about this event. We live together and give the best that the company has to vulnerable families. For example, talks about nutrition, savings and family relationships. Of everything that happens in the week what fills me the most is this. We have the No. 1 in the world, record attendance, we are a great event but what interests me most is being able to share these great moments with all of them.”
A day completely thought for them. The families did not miss out on the different services that voluntarily and with the support of the government joined the project. The medical care brigade allowed attendees to have free access to a laboratory, dental service, medical consultation, electrocardiogram, mammography and optics. Vaccination against Covid was also provided for those over 18 years of age and the vaccination schedule of the booklet for children.
There was helpful information on growing up, violence, cancer, motherhood, benefits of breastfeeding, oral care, physical activity, healthy habits, nutritional guidance, and even violence. Along the same lines, the Segovia-Tavera office also offered free legal advice.
Some children and mothers took advantage of the haircuts at Studio 24, but without a doubt one of the most colorful activities for the little ones was the drawing and painting workshop accompanied by a storyteller. Later there were bubbles and smiles that decorated the arcade games. “There are a lot of people involved in this and above all it took a lot of time. Being able to bring together all these brigades and work hand in hand with all state agencies, all in one day, more than 100 people. The idea is to maintain it every year and to grow more and more, seek more benefits” concluded Geoffrey Fernández, who was present at each of the Family Day activities.
