Los Cabos successfully culminates its participation in Routes 2023, the leading international meeting of the airline industry, held from March 21 to 23 in the city of Chicago, Illinois, where it held 18 business meetings with the most relevant international airlines and airport authorities with the aim of increasing air frequencies to the destination from the main issuing markets, such as the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America and Europe.

Within the framework of Routes, the representatives of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) met with executives of the attending airlines, among which stand out: Viva Aerobus and Volaris, who showed interest in expanding national connectivity with this tourist center in a short term; in addition to Copa Airlines, TUI, Norse Atlantic Airways, Porter, Flairs, Swoop, Allegiant, American Airlines, Breeze, Flair, Lynx and JSX.

“Strengthening air connectivity is an essential part of the tourism development project in the destination with the aim of taking advantage of the high demand of visitors and meeting the demands of the issuing markets that are attracted by the broad portfolio of international quality services in Los Cabos. . Therefore, participating in events such as Routes allows airlines to have us as the first option to generate business, in addition, it gives us the opportunity to present the demand that exists today in the destination from different cities on a case-by-case basis. this with the objective that they see the potential that exists and can evaluate adding new routes from new origins.”, commented Rodrigo Esponda, director of the Los Cabos Tourism Trust.

In turn, the representatives of FITURCA held meetings with airport authorities from Shreveport, Fort McMurray, Baltimore and Tucson, who showed interest in increasing the offer of flights to the destination, derived from the high demand of passengers from the United States who, only in January 2023, it had an increase of 46% compared to the same period in 2019.

It should be noted that as a result of these important efforts, in recent times, Los Cabos has increased its air connectivity, going from having a connection with 34 destinations in 2019 (19 with the United States, 7 in Mexico and 8 in Canada), to achieving connectivity with 50 destinations by 2023 (27 from the United States, 12 in Mexico and 11 for Canada; in addition to the direct flight to Madrid operated by Iberojet), a fact that positions it among the main tourist spots with the greatest connectivity in Mexico.

The participation of Los Cabos in world-class events such as Routes 2023 allows promoting promotional efforts to take advantage of the growing inertia in the flow of visitors arriving at the destination, where at the end of 2022 it reported the visit of +3.5 million passengers, a 25% increase compared to 2019, derived from the increase in national (1.2 million) and international (2.2 million) tourists by 34% and 20%, respectively; as well as more than five thousand commercial operations at the San José del Cabo International Airport.

In this way, the Los Cabos Tourism Trust maintains its commitment to carry out actions that strengthen air connectivity to and from the destination, for the benefit of visitors, who will be able to count on a wide panorama of options to travel and enjoy the exclusive experiences offered by the tourism industry in the region.
