Eduardo Romo, Architect of Diamante and local coordinator of the tournament said: “…when we saw that there were possibilities for this tournament to come to Diamante, Cabo San Lucas, then we got to work seriously and made Diamante the venue. We had to close the course for 4 months to be able to make all the preparations and have it in optimal conditions…and we are very proud since the eyes of the (golfing) world are going to be on Los Cabos.”
Joe Mazzeo, Director of the WWT Tournament: “…we have already been with this event for 16 years, having been in the Riviera Maya and we hope to be here in Los Cabos for many more years. A year ago we started looking for a new venue for the WWT and, obviously, when you think of golf in Mexico, you think of Los Cabos and when we found El Cardonal in Diamante, we fell in love. Designed by Tiger Woods and with great weather, it is ideal to be able to celebrate this tournament here since it also has excellent logistics in lodging and other facilities. The television broadcast is provided by Golf Channel in the United States and Golf Latin America, with more than 200 countries and territories around the world, truly unparalleled exposure. Great golf, gastronomy, hospitality, scenery, incredible. A great challenge but very fun.”
Ken Jowdy, CEO Diamante: “You know, it feels great, we have been working hard to get to this point, Tiger has been a big part of this project and together we have been working for more than 11 years. He really grabbed us and said that he had to be here because it is the first time that we have this PGA tournament here at one of his courses and we are really very excited and as we have seen that this course is one of the most important golf destinations worldwide. worldwide and very grateful and proud that WWT has selected Diamante as the venue for this tournament for the first time. I come from the Northeast of the United States and when I started no one knew where it was and now everyone knows where it is.”
Isidro Benítez, Mexican golf player: “…playing at home is always spectacular, feeling supported, and now with this magnificent place it is very special, I love Los Cabos, it is spectacular, the sea always looking as it should, impressive, the food, anyway “It's great to be here.”
José Cristóbal Islas, Mexican golfer: “…I think it is spectacular, it is a paradise to be playing here and to already have two PGA Tour events in Mexico is a gift for Mexicans. We have a clear goal, the mental work is day by day, every day in the morning what makes me get up is being here.”
