Los Cabos, ready to receive Ironman 70.3
Next Sunday, November 5, Los Cabos will host one of the most demanding and spectacular triathlon competitions: the Ironman 70.3. More than a thousand athletes from all over the world will meet in this tourist destination to face the challenge of swimming 1.9 kilometers in the Pacific Ocean, cycling 90 kilometers through the Baja California desert and running 21 kilometers through the streets of San José del Cabo.
The Ironman 70.3 Los Cabos is part of the world circuit of this modality, which grants 30 qualifying places for the Ironman 70.3 VinFast 2024 World Championship, which will be held in Taupō, New Zealand. Among the favorites to win are the American Jason West, number three in the world ranking of the Professional Triathletes Organization (PTO), and the Canadian Paula Findlay, number six in the same ranking and winner of two middle distance events this year.
The event, which has the support of the Government of Los Cabos and the company ASdeporte, hopes to generate an important economic and social impact in the region, as well as promote sports and health among the local population. Los Cabos is a special place where the sea, the desert and the mountains provide a unique setting for the practice of triathlon and the enjoyment of visitors.
