Los Cabos will host the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week with Saudi Arabia as the guest country
April 3 marked the beginning of the first edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Los Cabos, a renowned fashion event that, for 15 editions, had only chosen Guadalajara and Mexico City as venues. Now, it has moved to Baja California Sur (BCS) due to its tourist attractions.
With Saudi Arabia as the guest country, the design firms are presented: Abel López, Alfredo Martínez, Kris Goyri and Sandra Weil. On behalf of The Saudi Fashion Commission, 6 of its 100 designers will be presented: Dazluq and Khawla Al Aiban, in individual format, and a collective exhibition by Kaf by Kaf, NH Designer, Nora Al Shaikh and Waad Aloqali.
In a press conference, Beatriz Calles, deputy director of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, commented that the series of events they will present will conclude on April 6 and some of the collections that will be shown are the same ones that were presented at Fashion Week Milan.
Calles highlighted the special magic that Cabo has always had and mentioned that for 20 years they have set themselves the mission of making fashion and what is done in the creative arts known. In addition, she highlighted that fashion attracts tourism, and this event not only benefits designers, but also promotes gastronomy and other aspects of the region.
The deputy director expressed that they will look for a second edition in Los Cabos, but it will be after consolidating this parade in other states of the Republic.
Finally, Calles commented that Mexico has experienced growth in the fashion industry, especially with the digital modality that emerged during the pandemic. She added that doors are opening in the United States, Europe and Asia, and highlighted the importance of e-commerce in this context.
