Los Cabos Children's Foundation: 32 Million Pesos to Improve Children's Health in Baja California Sur
The Los Cabos Children's Foundation (LCCF), a prominent civil society organization and grantee, has announced an ambitious investment plan for the period from July 2024 to June 2025. With a budget of 32 million pesos, the foundation will support 40 specific programs focused on improving the quality of life of children in Baja California Sur, with a particular emphasis on the area of health.
The executive director of the foundation, Marisa Comella, reported that the programs will benefit the 42% of children in the region who live in poverty, a situation that limits their access to basic health services. "Next period we will support 40 programs within the spectrum of children's health throughout the state, with a special focus on Los Cabos, where the need is greatest," Comella said in an interview with the media.
During the previous year, the foundation invested 27.5 million pesos, benefiting approximately 11,762 girls, boys and adolescents, of which 91% reside in Los Cabos. The LCCF has focused its efforts on critical areas such as cancer, congenital heart disease, mental health prevention and nutrition, topics that, according to Comella, often do not receive the necessary support from authorities due to lack of resources.
"Our work focuses on filling the gaps in the system, especially in critical medical areas where the lives of many children depend on these programs," she explained. Additionally, the foundation is collaborating with Youth Integration Centers to address the problem of addictions among children and young people, highlighting its comprehensive commitment to child well-being in the region.
The LCCF continues to be a pillar in the fight to improve the quality of life of South Californian children, especially in the most vulnerable areas.
