Los Cabos strengthens its international connectivity with the new direct route to Frankfurt from Condor Airlines
The Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) and Condor Airlines have officially inaugurated the direct air route between Frankfurt and Los Cabos, which began operating on November 3. This new service represents a significant advance in the destination's international connectivity, facilitating access to one of the most important tourist markets in Europe.
During the inaugural flight, the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability of Baja California Sur, Maribel Collins; the Consul of Mexico in Frankfurt, Cecilia Villanueva; the General Director of FITURCA, Rodrigo Esponda; the President of the Los Cabos Hotel Association, Mauricio Salicrup; the Director of the Los Cabos International Airport, Francisco Villaseñor and, on behalf of Condor Airlines, Sabine Neujahr, among other representatives of the destination, were present.
During her speech, the Secretary of Tourism and Economy of Baja California Sur, Maribel Collins, stated that “the opening of this new route not only strengthens the connectivity of Los Cabos with Europe, but also promotes the economic and social development of our region. We hope that this connection will attract thousands of German tourists, generating opportunities for our local businesses and promoting an enriching cultural exchange.”
It is anticipated that this new connection will attract more than 16,000 German tourists during its first operational season, mainly from Frankfurt and other cities in Germany, as well as from Switzerland, Austria, Italy and France, in addition to other countries within the European zone.
The Consul of Mexico in Frankfurt, Cecilia Villanueva, referred to it as “a great achievement in connectivity between Mexico and Germany with the arrival of the inaugural flight from Frankfurt to Los Cabos. This new link will not only strengthen tourism and commercial exchange, but will also open new opportunities to deepen cultural ties and cooperation between our countries. From the Mexican Consulate in Frankfurt we would like to congratulate all the institutions that contributed to making this flight possible and we are grateful to have been able to be part of this collective effort.”
The route is designed to cover the winter and spring tourist season, covering the periods of greatest affluence of the European market. Two weekly flights will be scheduled from Frankfurt to Los Cabos, with operations until April 23, 2025, using Airbus A330-900 aircraft that have a capacity for 310 passengers distributed in three classes.
Rodrigo Esponda, head of FITURCA, highlighted that “the new direct route, operated by Condor Airlines, aims to consolidate European tourism as the third most relevant international market for Los Cabos. This connection, in addition, is part of a broader strategy to promote the growth of international tourism in the region.”
This new connection will increase the attractiveness of the destination for international visitors and will promote economic and cultural exchange. It is important to note that the European market shows great interest in nature, culture, gastronomy and sustainability, preferring high-quality experiences. This trend is aligned with FITURCA's vision of global diversification, which responds to a deep interest in the authenticity and heritage of Los Cabos.
In the words of Mauricio Salicrup, “the inauguration of this direct route is a milestone for Los Cabos and represents an invaluable opportunity for the economic development of our region. We hope that the arrival of German tourists will not only benefit hotels and restaurants, but will also boost local small businesses, thus strengthening our community and promoting sustainable growth.”
“For Los Cabos Airport, international routes represent more than half of the passenger traffic received each month; in fact, after the inauguration of Los Cabos-Frankfurt, this air terminal becomes one of the airports with the most international routes in GAP. We are preparing for the growing demand of national and foreign tourists, to provide them with the best experience,” said Francisco Villaseñor, director of Los Cabos Airport.
With this effort, Los Cabos reaffirms its commitment to diversify its tourism markets and strengthen its image as an exclusive and safe destination for international travelers. It is important to highlight that Los Cabos is positioned as the Mexican destination with the greatest promotion at national and international level, covering eleven priority markets: the United States, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Australia, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Germany and Japan. This comprehensive strategy not only seeks to attract more visitors, but also to generate a positive impact on the local economy and promote sustainable development in the region
