Los Cabos lands in the metaverse min

  • The virtual space includes four outdoor domes and a main hall, focused on gastronomy, art and culture, sustainability, golf and nature.
  • Los Cabos updates its digital ecosystem to improve accessibility, personalized recommendations and interactive features.
  • These new technologies are the result of a five-year effort, focused on innovation and sustainable development, which mark the way to an even more promising future.

The Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) is pleased to announce its foray into the metaverse, in collaboration with NOSTRA, a leading company in immersive experiences based in Dubai. This innovative project aims to offer visitors a unique and educational experience about the cultural and natural wealth of Los Cabos.

Located in the NOSTRA metaverse, the Los Cabos virtual space is designed as an immersive museum consisting of four outdoor domes and a main hall. Through this digital environment, visitors will be able to explore the activities that bring the destination to life: gastronomy, art and culture, sustainability, golf and nature. This platform represents an opportunity for diverse generations to discover and rediscover what Los Cabos has to offer and prepare to live its most iconic adventures.

The gateway to the Los Cabos metaverse is the Oculus 2 or 3, Meta's reality glasses. Users must enter the Meta Horizon Facebook Market and download the NOSTRA metaverse. Once inside, they will be able to access the virtual world of Los Cabos. An informative microsite was also created that allows users to explore this virtual space through Facebook Meta Horizon. People who do not have Meta's virtual reality glasses can enter as guests.

“The collaboration with NOSTRA allows us to attract monthly visitors from around the world. Countries such as Mexico, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Dubai, the United Kingdom and Spain will be part of our potential audience through this space,” said Rodrigo Esponda, General Director of FITURCA.

"Over the past five years, we have worked tirelessly to get to this moment, and today we find ourselves sowing an even more promising future for Los Cabos. Our commitment to innovation and sustainable development drives us to continue forward, visualizing the opportunities that the coming years have in store for us," added Rodrigo Esponda.

New immersive digital ecosystem, new travel experience

Another innovation for the destination was the renewal of the Visit Los Cabos digital ecosystem, with the purpose of revolutionizing the way travelers experience its wide tourist offer. This platform sets a new standard in Mexico, leveraging technology to create an inclusive, accessible and personalized digital ecosystem like no other in the country or Latin America. The immersive platform brings the destination to life through images, intuitive navigation and innovative features.

Redesigned under three unique pillars – inclusion through accessibility, digital experiences and immersive visual storytelling – the new digital ecosystem offers a range of enhanced features including:

  • Increased accessibility: By partnering with AudioEye, Los Cabos ensures an inclusive online experience for all. The AudioEye accessibility toolbar allows users to customize their experience with features such as color contrast adjustments, text resizing and font adjustments, making the digital ecosystem navigable for visitors with low vision, dyslexia, color blindness and other visual impairments.
  • Personalized planning features: Artificial intelligence (AI)-powered recommendations, including interactive flight maps and itinerary planning tools, provide an engaging and informative planning experience for travelers. Additionally, immersive 360° tours allow visitors to virtually explore activities and experiences before booking them.
  • Curated content and immersive storytelling: Sections dedicated to different travel styles, showcasing the diversity of experiences available in Los Cabos such as rural tourism, wellness, sustainability, and gastronomic offerings, among many more. The videos and images were created by photographer Ben Horton, who captured the natural beauty of the destination in every shot.

“We are thrilled to introduce this renewed digital ecosystem,” said Rodrigo Esponda. “This platform underscores Los Cabos’ commitment to innovation and our dedication to providing exceptional and accessible travel experiences for all travelers. We believe this transformative digital tool will inspire even more travelers to discover the unique places and experiences available in Los Cabos.”

These enhancements further cement Los Cabos’ position as a leader in the travel and tourism industry. By embracing technologies such as AI and augmented reality (AR), and through partnerships with platforms such as AudioEye, Los Cabos is committed to ensuring a seamless and enjoyable virtual experience for all who visit, furthering its reputation as a top-tier travel destination.

As you browse Visit Los Cabos you will be able to experience the new features while planning your next trip to Los Cabos.
