Fitur 2025 breaks attendance record and announces Mexico as guest country for its next edition

Fitur 2025

The most important event in world tourism closed with more than 255 thousand visitors and new commitments to sustainability and internationalization.

Madrid yesterday closed the 45th edition of the International Tourism Fair (Fitur) with a historic balance: 155 thousand professionals attended during the working days, a figure that was added to the 100 thousand visitors from the general public during the weekend, consolidating a record of participation.

María Valcarce, director of the event, described this edition as “very positive” and assured that the objectives were “achieved and surpassed”. The fair, considered the largest in the world in terms of business participation, brought together 156 countries and more than 9,500 companies, distributed in nine pavilions of the Ifema Madrid venue.

The 2025 edition will have Mexico as guest country, which puts this destination in the center of international attention. With sustainability and internationalization as key pillars, a proposal is expected that highlights the cultural, gastronomic and tourist diversity of the Latin American country.

Fitur 2025 has already paved the way for global tourism, a sector that in the last year surpassed pre-pandemic levels and is projected towards record numbers. The fair reflected current trends with sections such as Fitur Cruises, on cruise tourism; Fitur Techy, which explored the balance between technology, AI and sustainability; and Fiturext, the Sustainability Observatory focused on sustainable food management.

The Ibero-American Conference of Tourism Ministers and Entrepreneurs (Cimet) was also held, which in its 28th edition brought together representatives from 14 countries in the region.

The festive atmosphere of Fitur 2025 was felt with activities for the general public, such as craft workshops, tastings, concerts and contests. This approach brought tourism closer to attendees, showing its role as an economic and cultural engine.

With Mexico leading the next edition, the event promises to remain the epicentre of global tourism innovation, with an increasingly sustainable approach and connected to the future of the sector
