FITURCA takes off towards new air horizons at Routes Americas 2025
Los Cabos stands out as the only Mexican destination at Routes Americas, reaffirming its leadership in air connectivity.
The Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) participated in the 18th edition of Routes Americas 2025, held from February 10 to 12 in Nassau & Paradise Island, Bahamas. This event is recognized as the main forum for the development of air routes in the American continent.
Los Cabos is the only Mexican destination with a stand at this important event, where strategic meetings were held with leading airlines such as American Airlines, Delta and JetBlue, among others, with the aim of strengthening and expanding Los Cabos' air connectivity to key markets in North America, Central America and Europe.
"Our presence at Routes Americas reinforces our commitment to improving air connectivity in Los Cabos, facilitating access for international travelers and promoting economic growth in our region," said Rodrigo Esponda, CEO of FITURCA.
During the event, FITURCA held a meeting with Volaris, where the possibility of continuing to expand with flights from the United States to San José del Cabo was evaluated. Thanks to ongoing efforts to improve air connectivity, a new direct route was recently confirmed with Volaris from Oakland to Los Cabos, which will begin operations on March 20, 2025. With a daily frequency, this route seeks to attract 186 tourists each day to the destination, strengthening the arrival of travelers from the west coast of the United States.
FITURCA also held a strategic meeting with the leading luxury airline in transcontinental flights, Cóndor Flugdienst, to strengthen the route from Frankfurt, which will end next April, in its first season, and will resume operations in November of this year.
Within the framework of Routes Americas, it was confirmed that American Airlines is expanding its connectivity to Los Cabos from ORD (Chicago O'Hare), DFW (Dallas/Fort Worth) and LAX (Los Angeles) airports, offering more seats for travelers. During the event, opportunities were also explored with COPA, Iberia and Emirates to expand connectivity to new markets in Central America and the Middle East.
Participation in Routes Americas 2025 is part of FITURCA's comprehensive strategy to position Los Cabos as a top-level tourist destination, offering a wide range of experiences in luxury tourism, gastronomy, adventure and wellness. With these actions, Los Cabos reaffirms its commitment to innovation and excellence in the tourism industry.
Currently, Los Cabos manages 85% of Baja California Sur's connectivity, with 60 source markets in four different countries. This makes it the third largest recipient of international visitors in Mexico, highlighting the fundamental role of air connectivity in regional economic growth.
