Los Cabos consolidates its position as the epicenter of world tennis with its 2025 ATP tournament
The sporting event not only attracts tennis stars but also boosts the economy, tourism, and technological innovation in Baja California Sur.
With nine editions under its belt, the Los Cabos tennis tournament has established itself as one of the most important sporting events in Mexico and on the ATP 250 circuit. In its 2025 edition, which will be held from July 14 to 19, the event promises a renewed experience for both players and the public, with technological innovations, social activities, and the presence of world tennis greats.
Economic impact and growth of the event
Since its first edition in 2016, the tournament has driven the economic growth of the destination, attracting investment from companies such as Banca Mifel, Interprotección, and Mazda, which have established operations in the region. Last year's edition broke attendance records with nearly 35,000 spectators, tripling the initial figures. It also generated an economic impact of 129 million pesos and achieved more than 2,000 hours of television coverage in 66 countries, reaching more than 2.2 million people.
Technology and innovation in the 2025 edition
This year, the tournament will implement new technologies to improve the experience for players and fans. One of the new features is the incorporation of the Electronic Line Calling (ELC) system, which will replace linesmen with high-precision cameras to ensure accurate decisions. In addition, digital screens will be installed at the ends of the courts for greater interaction with sponsors and the public.
Another important advance is the implementation of digital tickets, which will facilitate the management and transfer of tickets from mobile devices, although a hybrid system with printed tickets will also be offered.
A Star-Studded Lineup: Rublev, Musetti, and Shapovalov Headlining the Competition
The 2025 tournament will feature top-level players, most notably Russian Andrey Rublev, currently world number 9, who will make his debut in Los Cabos. Joining him will be Italian Lorenzo Musetti (number 16 in the ATP rankings), an Olympic bronze medalist, and Canadian Denis Shapovalov (number 30), who is returning to the tour after an injury that sidelined him for several months.
Special Events and Social Commitment
The tournament is not only a sporting event but also seeks to generate a positive social impact. This year, various activities will be organized, such as Mextenny Stocks, a space where players will share anecdotes about their lives off the court, and Kids Night, where children ages 0 to 12 can enter for free to experience top-level tennis.
Likewise, Family Day will be held, where 250 low-income families will receive support in legal counseling, nutrition, and health, including mammograms and vaccination campaigns.
Expectations for the Future
With a prize fund that remains the fourth-highest among ATP 250 tournaments and an organization that has established itself internationally, the Los Cabos tennis tournament continues to position itself as a sporting and tourism landmark in Mexico. Expectations now focus on the final list of players, which will be announced in June, and on the continued expansion of the event, which strengthens Baja California Sur's prestige in the world of tennis each year.
