Los Cabos Beaches Welcome 140,000 Bathers During Holy Week, Surpassing 2024 Figures

The destination consolidated its position as one of the most visited in the country, according to the Ministry of Tourism; authorities reported a clean balance and improved infrastructure in coastal areas.

LOS CABOS, B.C.S.— During the recent Holy Week holiday period, Los Cabos ranked among the four most visited sun and beach destinations in Mexico, according to data from the Ministry of Tourism (Sectur). The influx was evident on the municipality's coasts, where local authorities reported more than 140,000 bathers, representing an increase of 25,000 compared to the figures recorded in 2024.

The coordinator of the Federal Maritime Terrestrial Zone (Zofemat), Rafael Álvarez, reported that the most popular beaches during the holy days were La Ribera and El Tule, both on the open sea. Regarding certified beaches, El Chileno and Palmilla topped the list of visits, standing out for their Blue Flag or Platinum status.

“Each of these beaches generates a large amount of solid waste, which also allows us to gauge the number of people visiting them,” Álvarez noted.

Infrastructure Improvements and a Clean Balance

To ensure a positive experience for both locals and tourists, the municipal government, in conjunction with various institutions, implemented a series of improvements. 205 portable toilets were installed, dirt roads leading to coastal areas were rehabilitated, and coordination was carried out with Oomsapas to bring drinking water to campers.

Likewise, the fire department sent 40 personnel to reinforce the presence of rescuers on the beaches, and waste collection was intensified, preventing accumulations that could affect the natural environment.

Although some minor incidents were reported due to campers who did not respect protected areas or engaged in restricted activities, authorities reported a clean balance at the end of the vacation period. The collaboration between security forces, civil protection, and Zofemat was key to maintaining order and ensuring safety in coastal areas.

With these results, Los Cabos reaffirms its position as one of the country's most important tourist destinations, while making progress in improving its services and infrastructure to continue offering safe, clean, and certified beaches.
