Luis Humberto Araiza López, Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability (SETUES), emphasized the importance of the tourism industry for the economic and social progress of Baja California Sur, regarding World Tourism Day, which will be commemorated next September 27 and that this year has as its motto: "Tourism and Rural Development".

This activity represents 70 percent of the state's Gross Domestic Product (GDP), and also commented that at the end of the first quarter of 2020 it had just over 78,100 jobs, according to the National Survey of Occupation and Employment (ENOE) of INEGI, therefore, for the state administration it is essential to create synergies, strategies and actions that contribute to the recovery of tourism and all activities linked to this value chain.

“Tourism represents for our State an engine of economic growth and social development. This activity generates thousands of direct and indirect jobs, in addition to promoting and strengthening other productive sectors; That is why in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are redoubling our efforts so that this industry can reestablish itself and adapt to the new normal; in order to continue being a source of well-being for families ”, mentioned the head of SETUES

Araiza López pointed out that, with the help of tourism entrepreneurs, they have worked to reactivate the sector with programs that inspire confidence in visitors about the safety and quality of BCS as a destination such as: Punto Limpio, Blue Flag, Distintivo H, the Safes Travel Seal of the World Travel and Tourism Council, among others.
