Tax incentives proposed by SECTUR, a great benefit to BCS tourism

SECTUR 1

In light of the proposals made by the head of the federal SECTUR, Miguel Torruco Marqués, before the Senate of the Republic, on the deductibility of food consumption in restaurants and a zero percent VAT rate to encourage congresses and conventions, the secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability (SETUES), Luis Humberto Araiza López, expressed his full support for these initiatives.

The official pointed out that if these proposals are approved, they would substantially pay for the economic and tourist reactivation of all destinations in the country, noting that in the case of the restaurant sector, making food deductible will motivate greater consumption, as well as an increase in customers, what he said will help to sustain the direct and indirect sources of employment that this activity generates in Mexico.

He also reported that achieving a zero percent rate for the meetings industry would increase the competitiveness of all of Mexico as a destination for congresses and conventions at a global level, as is already the case in other countries, allowing the development of more events and Consequently, the capture of more economic income, by pointing out that this segment has an average expense and a very long time of stay.

Araiza López emphasized that for Baja California Sur these tax incentives would represent a great boost for the recovery of the sector, since they would help to detonate the tourist potential of the entity, thereby increasing the arrival of visitors to its main destinations.
