Recently, very close to the Bay of Cabo San Lucas, the National Network for Assistance to Entangled Whales (RABEN) received a report of a young whale that was surrounded by buoys that prevented its swimming, in poor condition and entangled.

Óscar Ortiz, provider of outdoor tourism services: “… it was a juvenile whale, approximately six meters tall… Already with a very noticeable loss of weight, its skin conditions already very damaged since it was completely covered by parasites that fed of his epidermis…. "

Its tail fin looked badly damaged.

Óscar Ortiz, provider of open-air tourist services: "... the ropes were already tightening or even mutilating what was the part of its tail fin, it was possible to see part of the spine ... everything possible was cut ..."

For more than 24 hours, rescuers from RABEN and different federal environmental agencies managed to free the cetacean from what seemed like a crab trap that it had been dragging for six months.

Ligia Hernández González, RABEN volunteer: "... due to the type of buoys the whale was carrying, it was determined that these buoys were not Mexican, those buoys had American characteristics ..."

Finally this whale could be released with a good chance of recovery.
