Baja California Sur, the entity with the most Blue Flag beaches in Mexico
"Baja California Sur has proven to be a resilient tourist destination with a great capacity for adaptation, and in this sense the conjunction of efforts has been key to achieving its strengthening and overcoming," said the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability (SETUES), Luis Humberto Araiza López, after participating on behalf of Governor Carlos Mendoza in the delivery of 22 badges and the raising of the Blue Flag, on La Gaviota beach in the Buenavista community, Los Cabos municipality.
During this act, headed by the mayor of Los Cabos, Armida Castro and in which the executive director of the Foundation For Environmental Education (FEE), Joaquín Díaz, Araiza López, mentioned that the delivery of these 19 endorsements and the incorporation of 3 New beaches (La Gaviota, Monument and El Surgidero) in Los Cabos added to El Coromuel beach in La Paz, position the State as the national leader with the largest number of beaches certified with this international award.
“The Blue Flag distinctive is the highest recognition of beaches committed to the environment, but also to tourism quality. Blue Flag synthesizes two great challenges: conservation and environmental care; and sustainable and responsible tourism activity, aspects in which we have reaffirmed our commitment and in which we have once again proudly highlighted one more year ”, added the head of SETUES.
Araiza López explained the work of the Los Cabos City Council, ZOFEMAT and the institutions of the 3 levels of government in coordination with civil society, to achieve this result, as well as acknowledging the interest of businessmen, who said "they have bet and They have not spared in resources, so that the destination maintains and increases the Blue Flag flags ".
