22 Baja California Sur Restaurants Receive MICHELIN Guide 2026 Plaques

Baja California Sur reaffirmed its position as one of Mexico’s premier culinary destinations during the MICHELIN Guide 2026 plaque presentation ceremony. This honor recognizes the culinary excellence, innovation, and commitment of restaurants that have helped establish the state’s gastronomic scene as a national and international benchmark.

Held at Manta (at The Cape, A Thompson Hotel), the ceremony brought together chefs, restaurateurs, officials, and tourism industry representatives to officially recognize the 22 Baja California Sur restaurants included in the MICHELIN Guide 2026 selection.

During the event, NEMI, located in La Paz, received its plaque for the first time as part of the MICHELIN Guide 2026. Led by Chef Alejandro Villagómez, the restaurant has distinguished itself through a contemporary culinary approach that highlights Baja California Sur ingredients and blends the richness of regional produce with international techniques and influences.

Plaques were also presented to restaurants that retained distinctions and mentions earned in previous editions of the MICHELIN Guide, acknowledging their sustained culinary excellence and contribution to Baja California Sur’s gastronomic prestige.

Cocina de Autor retained its MICHELIN Star—an honor distinguishing restaurants offering exceptional cuisine—while Acre and Flora’s Field Kitchen maintained their MICHELIN Green Star, awarded to establishments committed to responsible practices, resource conservation, and collaboration with local producers.

Meanwhile, Metate, Cocina de Campo by Agricole—along with Flora’s Field Kitchen—retained the Bib Gourmand distinction, a category recognizing establishments that offer high-quality cuisine at an accessible price point. In the Recommended Restaurants category, Cabo San Lucas retains: Al Pairo at Solaz, Comal at Chileno Bay Resort & Residences, Los Tres Gallos, Manta at the Cape, and Mezcal at Montage. In San José del Cabo, the following remain MICHELIN recommendations: Acre, Árbol at Las Ventanas Al Paraíso, CarbónCabrón, LÍMO Heritage Kitchen at Suelo Sur, Lumbre, Nao, Omakai, and Ruba’s Bakery; meanwhile, in Todos Santos, the establishments retaining this distinction are Benno at San Cristóbal Baja, DŪM, Oystera, and TENOCH by Paradero.

Collectively, these establishments stand out for the quality of their culinary offerings, the talent of their teams, and their ability to provide dining experiences that reflect the richness of the ingredients and the identity of South Baja Californian cuisine.

According to the Los Cabos Tourism Board (FITURCA), gastronomy continues to solidify its position as a primary driver of travel to the destination. Fourteen percent of visitors identify the culinary experience and restaurant visits as their main reason for traveling to Los Cabos. This segment records an average daily spend of nearly 5,900 pesos per person, with approximately 1,800 pesos allocated to food and beverage consumption. Furthermore, the dining experience boasts an 84% recommendation rate among visitors.

“The MICHELIN Guide recognitions reflect how gastronomy has become a key differentiator of the tourism experience in Los Cabos and Baja California Sur. The diversity of culinary offerings—ranging from signature cuisine projects to concepts closely linked with local producers—strengthens the destination’s standing within major international gastronomic circuits,” noted Rodrigo Esponda, Director General of the Los Cabos Tourism Board. The MICHELIN Guide bases its selections on evaluations by anonymous inspectors who consider criteria such as ingredient quality, mastery of culinary techniques, harmony of flavors, the chef’s personality, and the consistency of the culinary offering over time.
