FITURCA Opens New Business Opportunities for Groups and Events at IBTM Americas

The Los Cabos delegation held over 600 business meetings and generated more than 60 commercial opportunities during its participation in one of the meetings industry’s premier events.

Los Cabos reinforced its strategy to attract conventions, incentive travel, and international events through comprehensive participation in IBTM Americas. The destination brought together a delegation of 20 companies and organizations, securing over 600 business meetings with specialized buyers from Mexico, the United States, Canada, and Latin America. Los Cabos’ presence at the event—held on August 19 and 20 in Mexico City—generated more than 60 commercial opportunities and showcased the capacity of its meetings industry and the diverse experiences available to groups.

Led by the Los Cabos Tourism Board (FITURCA), the delegation included hotels, four Destination Management Companies (DMCs), and firms specializing in audiovisual production, décor, experiences, and activities. This lineup reflected the diversity and specialization of the value chain supporting the destination within the meetings, incentives, conventions, and events (MICE) sector.

As part of the event’s activities, the destination participated in the ICCA North America Chapter session—a strategic collaborative forum for regional leaders to analyze the convention industry landscape, share priorities, and strengthen initiatives aimed at boosting the competitiveness of Mexico and its destinations in attracting international conventions and events.

In collaboration with SITE Mexico, Los Cabos also participated in SITE NITE LATAM, a networking event for the incentive travel industry. Through brand activations and direct meetings with meeting planners, the destination enhanced its visibility among professionals specializing in this sector.

Additionally, Los Cabos was selected as one of eight industry leaders invited by PCMA to participate in the PCMA Mexico Rising Leaders Summit. There, the destination shared insights with students and the next generation of professionals regarding the importance of the meetings industry and the strategic role a Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) plays in promoting, positioning, and developing a destination. The Los Cabos stand incorporated elements representative of the destination’s identity—highlighting the connection between desert and sea—alongside an artistic installation by Iván Guaderrama, thereby integrating art and creativity into the attributes and experiences that distinguish Los Cabos.

Overall, Los Cabos’ participation in IBTM Americas went beyond the schedule of business meetings; it encompassed generating commercial opportunities, promoting the destination, strengthening strategic alliances, and fostering connections with industry leaders, clients, and the next generation of professionals.

The importance of the meetings industry to Los Cabos is also reflected in its economic impact. In 2025, the segment generated 773,956 room-nights through Requests for Proposals (RFPs), resulting in an estimated economic impact exceeding $263 million. These figures underscore the contribution of congresses, conventions, incentive trips, and events to the destination’s tourism activity, as well as the segment’s potential to continue generating business and attracting both domestic and international groups.
