Los Cabos expands its domestic air network, reaching 17 direct routes
Over four consecutive weeks, FITURCA carried out initiatives in seven countries to generate demand, develop strategic markets, and strengthen the destination’s international connectivity.
Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, September 30, 2026. As part of its strategy to diversify international markets and strengthen air connectivity, the Los Cabos Tourism Board (FITURCA) executed a promotional agenda throughout September that took the destination to seven countries across Europe, Asia, and South America.
Over the course of four consecutive weeks, the Los Cabos delegation participated in tourism industry gatherings in Germany, Switzerland, Poland, the Czech Republic, France, Japan, and Argentina. These activities combined promotion, public relations, and commercial engagement with tour operators, travel agencies, media outlets, and other key players in the tourism value chain.
This agenda addresses one of the destination’s strategic objectives: moving toward more balanced tourism growth through greater geographic diversification. This involves developing markets with high potential and generating the necessary demand to bolster international connections, such as the direct Frankfurt–Los Cabos route operated by Condor and the Panama–Los Cabos route operated by Copa Airlines.
“Diversifying markets requires a constant presence and direct engagement with those who influence travel decisions. Over these four weeks, we secured nearly 100 business and networking meetings for Los Cabos across seven countries in Europe, Asia, and South America. This agenda allows us to raise awareness of the destination, create new business opportunities, and, above all, drive the demand needed to strengthen our international connectivity,” stated Rodrigo Esponda, Director General of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.
The agenda began with a trade mission across Europe that included Munich, Düsseldorf, Cologne, and Frankfurt in Germany; Zurich in Switzerland; Warsaw in Poland; …and Prague, in the Czech Republic. Three events were held during the tour, bringing together 110 business partners—including tour operators and travel agencies—and featuring nine representatives from the Los Cabos tourism industry, such as hotels, activity providers, and DMCs.
In Geneva, Switzerland, Rodrigo Esponda participated in the “Navigating Tourism’s Changing Landscape” panel at Destinations International’s Global Leaders Summit. This gathering brought together destination leaders from around the world to analyze the key challenges, shifts, and opportunities transforming the global tourism industry.
These activities were complemented by 20 meetings with tour operators and specialized agencies, as well as strategic discussions with Condor aimed at continuing to drive demand for the direct Frankfurt–Los Cabos route. The connection also serves as a platform to facilitate the arrival of travelers from various European markets.
Indicators from the first half of 2026 show progress in this strategy. The European market recorded 12.9% growth compared to the same period in 2025, with increases of 56.8% in France, 140.6% in Switzerland, and 186% in the Czech Republic. In Germany—a strategic market for the Condor route—passenger volume during the first half of 2026 was nearly six times higher than that recorded during the same period in 2024.
The European outreach continued at Top Resa in Paris, one of France’s leading professional tourism trade shows. There, Los Cabos held 32 business meetings with tour operators and met with 10 media representatives to showcase the destination’s tourism offerings and connectivity options.
An international strategy bolstered by growth in new markets
In Asia, Los Cabos participated in the JATA Tourism Expo in Japan, continuing efforts to position the destination within a key Asian market. A highlight of this participation was the inclusion—for the first time—of Los Cabos in *RuRubu Mexico*, a travel publication aimed at Japanese consumers, which will help expand the destination’s visibility in this market.
During the expo, 13 business meetings were held with travel agencies and tour operators, alongside media engagements designed to raise awareness of Los Cabos and generate new business opportunities.
The international schedule concluded in South America with participation in FIT Buenos Aires, one of Latin America’s premier tourism trade shows. There, Los Cabos held 30 meetings with tour operators and travel agencies, as well as 10 meetings with the media.
As part of the activities in Argentina, FITURCA also organized a gathering for trade partners and media at the MALBA museum; the event included a tour of the Frida Kahlo exhibition and a dinner showcasing the destination’s attributes, experiences, and latest developments.
This presence in Argentina takes place against a backdrop of growing South American visitor numbers to Los Cabos. During the first half of 2026, the destination welcomed approximately 15,900 passengers from the region—a 66.3% increase over the same period in 2025 and a figure roughly 90% higher than in 2024. Argentina stood out with a 135.4% year-over-year increase in passenger volume, more than double the figure recorded the previous year. This trend takes on particular significance given Copa Airlines’ direct Panama–Los Cabos service, which expands access options from Central and South America via the Hub of the Americas in Panama and opens up new opportunities to develop regional markets.
FITURCA will continue to work with airlines, business partners, tour operators, travel agencies, and the media to consolidate strategic markets and develop new international growth opportunities for the destination.
