Billy Horschel Joins the World Wide Technology Championship
Billy Horschel joins the field for the 20th-anniversary edition of the World Wide Technology Championship, taking place next week in Los Cabos. Promising young golf talents, WWT ambassadors, and players from Mexico and Latin America have also confirmed their participation.
Billy Horschel has confirmed he will compete in the World Wide Technology Championship, which takes place next week in Los Cabos, Mexico. Horschel, a fan favorite, has secured eight PGA Tour victories, including the 2014 FedExCup title. This will mark his ninth appearance in the tournament.
Also announced today is the participation of several other notable players, including World Wide Technology ambassadors, some of golf’s brightest young prospects, and various representatives from Mexico and Latin America. They join a previously announced lineup that includes Tony Finau, Jackson Koivun, Luke Donald, Ryan Gerard, and defending champion Ben Griffin.
The WWT ambassadors set to compete include Canadian Taylor Pendrith and Americans Keith Mitchell and Austin Eckroat—the 2024 champion—along with the aforementioned Griffin and Donald. Collectively, these WWT ambassadors have earned 12 PGA Tour victories throughout their careers.
Future PGA Tour stars will also be represented, with players such as Blades Brown, Nick Dunlap, and Ben James set to compete next week. Brown, 19, has already set several records and made his way to the PGA Tour at a remarkably young age. Two years ago, Dunlap made history by winning The American Express as an amateur. Meanwhile, James finished the season at the top of the PGA Tour University rankings and has since secured four top-five finishes on the Tour. Also confirmed to participate are David Ford, Johnny Keefer, Jay Leng Jr., Gordon Sargent, Neal Shipley, and Preston Stout, from Oklahoma State University. Stout currently holds the top spot in the world amateur rankings and earned his place in the tournament by winning the individual title at the 2026 Cabo Collegiate.
Finally, Álvaro Ortiz—a native of Guadalajara—leads a notable group of Mexican and Latin American players. Ortiz has already secured his 2027 PGA Tour card following his performance throughout the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour season. Joining him are fellow Mexicans Alejandro Madariaga and Jorge Villar, who won the Mexican qualifying events for the WWT Championship held earlier this month, as well as Kristoffer Ventura—born and raised in Puebla—who holds dual Mexican and Norwegian citizenship. Other Latin American representatives returning to Diamante include Camilo Villegas (Colombia), Emiliano Grillo (Argentina), Alejandro Tosti (Argentina), Marcelo Rozo (Colombia), and Rafa Campos (Puerto Rico).
The full field of players will be announced on Friday at 2:00 p.m. (Los Cabos local time), once the official PGA Tour confirmation deadline has passed. The final spots will be determined via the “Monday Qualifier”—an 18-hole open qualifying tournament taking place on Monday, November 2, at Oleada Golf Links in Cabo San Lucas—which will award four additional spots in the championship.
