Five thousand fans enjoyed the Seventh edition of the San José Jazz Weekend

For the seventh consecutive year the San José Jazz Weekend was held at Plaza Pescador In San Jose del Cabo on the 15th and 16th of February.

Once again the event brought together master exponents of this unique variety of music from local, national and international fields.

During the two day event there were over five thousand visitors to listen to  this highly personal music and event where they not only were able to enjoy the music, but also taste great gastronomy and spectacular art exhibitions all at the same time.

On opening night the Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability for the state of Baja California Sur, Luis Araiza highlighted:

"I congratulate you and encourage you to continue making this festival great, to continue working on cultural and recreational events that make our destination strong".

Almost 3,000 participated in the Sixth Los Cabos Half Marathon

This Sunday the Half Marathon held in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, with over two thousand 860 athletes in the different categories was a total success.

This Event brings together not only runners from Baja California Sur, but also from different states of Mexico as well as many from abroad.

Blanca Madrid Co-director Los Cabos Half Marathon:

"We've had 70 % of the people come in from outside, that´s something that gives us great satisfaction because we had about two thousand people from outside come in..."

Onorio Figueroa participant from Guadalajara:

"The route and the organization, was all very well planned. The destination is fabulous".

Kevin Marvin tourist from Alabama, USA:

"It's a great location to come to, run the race, and then spend some time on the beach."

The men’s winner of this sixth edition of the Los Cabos Half Marathon said that in addition to the great weather, the route allows you to admire the natural beauty of this destination, which despite being challenging, is still very beautiful.

Óscar Caltenco - Men's Winner 6th Los Cabos Half Marathon:

"It's a great event. It’s a very fun route, a scenic route you go through lots of beautiful landscapes, you see the sunrise, so I really like competing here".

Maribel Tirado Participant from Tijuana BC:

"The weather here is perfect. Right now it is very cold in Tijuana, but beautiful here. We are ready to participate".

The event was opened to several categories of all ages, from beginners to masters.

There was even a large participation of children to promote the sport.

In the women's category, The Mexican triathlete Sibel Hernandez was the grand winner.

Sibel Hernández 1st Place, women's Half Marathon:

"Incredible, it´s a very familiar route for me, I train a lot here, but nothing like being a local and taking the Over All".

This type of events also generates positive economic impact for the area.

Interview with Gob. de Sinaloa Quirino Ordaz Coppel from FITUR 2019

In an exclusive interview with Armando Figaredo, Quirino Ordaz Coppel, Governor of the State of Sinaloa, spoke about his experience during the International Tourism Fair of Spain, FITUR 2019.

"I think this is a great world event, and that it allows us to project the strength that we, Mexico tourist destinations have.  Everyone comes here, it’s a meeting point for wholesalers, operators, airlines, for all the great players in the sector, that's why you have to be here, you have to come".

I also talk about how Sinaloa has recovered after the impact of several climatic phenomena’s during the last cyclonic season.

"The truth is, everything is very good because our people are very enthusiastic, very forward thinkers, and there’s been excellent team work between the government and society, and that’s important. We also had lots of good backing from the Federal Government, so we’re a 100 % in everything".

Interview with Luis Humberto Araiza Lopez Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability from FITUR 2019

A yearly convention attended by 886 exhibitors, more than 10 thousand companies from 165 countries or regions from all five continents,  all related to the tourism industry.

With the purpose of exposing the natural wonders, wealth and tourist offerings in Baja California Sur, for a global market the State Tourism Trust (FITUES) and the Los Cabos Tourism Trust (FITURCA) participated in this, the 39th edition of the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), organized by the Madrid Trade Fair Institute (IFEMA) which took place in Spain from the 24th thru the 27th of January, 2019.

Attending this great convention in representation of the State of Baja California Sur was Secretary of Tourism, Economy and Sustainability, Luis Humberto Araiza Lopez, where the state official held numerous meetings with the main leaders of the industry worldwide, in order to continue generating productive strategies that enhance the level of the travel industry in B.C.S.

In this respect Secretary Araiza explained that this business gathering represents a major platform of importance for the state, since 886 exhibitors and more than 10 thousand four hundred companies from 165 countries or regions where present, and with many of who he expected to strengthen commercial ties in Pro of growth and economic development for the southern Baja Peninsula state.

He also stressed that FITUR has here the perfect opportunity to strengthen the presence of the state, in various European markets and thus achieve the arrival of more international visitors, resulting in greater economic benefits for all the destinations in Baja California Sur.

He also explained that “…It allows for an exchange of experiences and knowledge in the topics of: Fitur Cine - dedicated to the film enthusiasts traveler, in addition to other viable methods of attracting tourists, such as: Fitur Gay, Fitur Heath, Fitur Tech and Fitur Know How, in which technology and advancement play an essential role with an intelligent and contemporary sector of tourism consumers”.

The Secretary added that during Fitur 2019 more than a dozen new participants were in attendance such as: the Official Representations of Djibouti, Finland, Ras al Khaimah Emirate and Sierra Leona, as well as exhibitors from the Cook Islands, Macedonia, Pakistan, Papua- New Guinea, French Polynesia, Serbia and Sweden. Turnout expected to surpass the 251 thousand attendees, during the three days of this beginning of the year trade fair.

Finally, Luis Araiza emphasized on the efforts aimed at promoting B.C.S., "…We will intensify our promotion as well as expand our horizons, continuing to position our state as the world class destination it is as well as part of the best  Mexico has to offer ”, concluded the Secretary of Tourism.

Through the FITUES and FITURCA, Baja California Sur exposes its beauty and it´s tourist offerings to the world at the International Tourism Festival (FITUR), in Madrid, Spain.

“We are a chain that consists of 9 properties including the famous and legendary Cabo Surf Hotel known as the mecca of surfing in Los Cabos.

Note that the rest is part of a route, the famous route of The Chepe Train through the Copper Canyon (El Chepe de las Barrancas del Cobre) here the Legendary Chepe Train, which is already 60 years young, it’s a train that leaves every day from Los Mochis and crosses through the town of El Fuertes a Magical Town where the legend of El Zorro was born.

Then the train continues until it reaches a small town called Cerocahui. This is also a Magical Town with vineyards and the place is beautiful.  Then the train continues advancing until you reach The Imposing and Majestic Copper Canyon. It’s a wonderful place and is amongst the 7 Largest Natural Wonders of the World.

Let me tell you that we are very happy and excited because people are truly very interested in knowing more about this destination, Copper Canyon and also more about the new route called Costa Barrancas, which is a new circuit that’s being formed by joining the mountain, the train and the beach with Mazatlán. So that’s our new destination called Costa Barrancas”.
