1st Christmas Boat Parade in Cabo San Lucas

With a bright and colorful parade of boats, for the first time the Christmas spirit was celebrated in the bay of Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.

Just after sunset more than twenty boats of all kinds paraded lit with hundreds of colored lights crossing the length of famous El Medano beach.

Tourist pirate boats, the well-known trimarans that usually take tourists to contemplate the sunset and several well-known ”pangas”,  7 meter LOA made with glass bottoms, also carried Christmas spirit.

Guillermo Rivelino, Organizing Committee: ... we had a 100-foot yacht, 2 pirate ships, 2 yachts, 2 sailboats and 2 catamarans participate...

Local resident families as well as national and foreign tourists enjoyed the uncommon parade.

Diana Valeria - Cabo San Lucas: "... I came to the event with my family so we could live this experience together, we saw other families enjoying music, you could be dancing but at the same time, if you looked out towards the ocean you could see all decorated ships”

Christina from Alberta Canada: "I think it was fantastic. All the boats with the lights and the parade they made ..."

The row of boats ended up parading around the bay of Cabo San Lucas before hundreds of spectators who stood on the jetty at the entrance to the marina of this port to admire the boats as the slowly passed by on the way back to each ones respective dock.

Catalina Villalas de Guadalajara: "Beautiful. Well, in my point of view a little short, it should have lasted longer”

This aquatic parade ended with the awarding of prizes to the best-lit boats and a splendid display of fireworks.

"Sabor a Cabo" 2018 was a total success with Miguel Bosé as dessert.

In an interview, Edith Jiménez, renowned restaurant owner in this destination as well as director and pioneer of the "Sabor A Cabo Festival”, acknowledged the efforts of all the organizers and the positive results of the event, "We are incredibly proud of how we´’ve been planning from seven or eight months and today we are seeing the result and the benefits of Sabor a Cabo for all those present. [...] We reunited the whole "heavy" group, as Poncho Varitas calls them and here we are, this is it ".

Also the president of CANIRAC Los Cabos, Gustavo Laborde  pointed out … “it’s not only has been a gastronomical success, but also helps the community by donating  two fire trucks and an ambulance to the Mexican Red Cross in Los Cabos. It’s important to distinguish all the participating partners and collaborators as well.

The event occurred and provided: impressive gastronomy from sixty restaurants, thirty-five wineries, six breweries, chefs and all the people who have attended year after year. A special thanks to all the CANIRAC partner restaurants that have created this event with a cause, generating proceeds that have allowed donations to the Fire Department and Los Cabos Mexican Red Cross as well, we are very happy to be here. "

12th edition of the VIP Summit 2018

VIP 1

Starting on Tuesday morning the Los Cabos International Convention Center hosted the VIP Summit in its 12th edition. This is the marketing affair considered by most in the destination as of premier importance.

"We’re bringing in the main commercial partners, for who we have two specific strategies being implanted at this 12th VIP Summit.

First, consolidation in the primary markets: USA, Canada and Mexico, which is why the main trading partners from the three countries here, this is where one-on-one negotiations are carried out with hotels and tourism providers for our destination, "said Rodrigo Esponda, Director, FITURCA Los Cabos.

Present during this edition are 65 companies from 11 countries, 1,100 meetings are scheduled during the three day event.

Together with us, negotiations are carried out for new connectivity, promotion actions, cooperatives agreements, and all will be carried outside as well, for conducting activities in most of the markets. The second strategy is diversification, for which we’ve brought in buyers from 8 different countries other than Mexico, USA and Canada; from places like Australia, Great Briton, Italy, Korea, Brazil, Argentina and Colombia, they are also going to carry out negotiations, one on one, it’s an opportunity for them to know and develop their products even better ".

It’s also a time to show off hotel offerings that this destination has. It should be noted that 2018 will be closing with a hotel inventory of 17 thousand 500 rooms, which has grown by 6% this year.

"It’s the most important event we have in the hotel industry, it’s where the hotel sector takes the opportunity to sit down with all tour operators, wholesalers and airlines that bring the client to the destination. It’s where you have the opportunity to review rates, to see the programs if they have worked or if not.  Fortunately the comments we have had with the tour operators, is that Los Cabos is the number one destination in growth, for them, in the country, it is the destination that’s setting an example, "said Paloma Palacios from the Hotel Association.

During this year’s event, we also presented the strategies that help the promotion of Los Cabos, and that talk about the natural beauty and attractions offered by this destination to tourists for their travel experiences.
