"The White Shark in Mexico"

The renowned marine biologist, director of Pelagios Kajunjá AC, in La Paz, Baja California Sur, Dr. Mauricio Hoyos offered, free of charge thanks to the Institute of Culture of Los Cabos and to the coordination of Comunicabos, SC, a Magisterial Conference " The White Shark in Mexico " that maintained, at all times, a high level of scientific content.
In an entertaining and sometimes with an excellent sense of humor to narrate anecdotes and experiences from his more than 15 years of research with White Sharks, the speaker captivated the attentive and interested audience that virtually filled the Cultural Pavilion of the Republic in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur.
Taught in a simple yet reflective language at all times, the conference was supported by the projection of impressive images and videos as well as graphics and precise explanations about this fascinating shark.
Students, teachers, parents and dozens of children enjoyed and followed Dr. Hoyos's conference with great interest for more than an hour. At the end, during the question and answer session, the lecturer responded to each and every one -including several children, the questions they asked him were all of great interest to the public in general.
The shark expert, internationally awarded by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, and founding partner of the Mexican Society of Cartilaginous Fishes, has worked with more than ten species of sharks throughout his career. Dr. Mauricio Hoyos, began his professional career in shark reproduction, becoming an expert in the subject.
In recent years he has been dedicated to studying the behavior of several species in the Pacific, Mexican Caribbean, Costa Rica and Venezuela.
"Since 2003, we have been carrying out a project on Isla Guadalupe which is the best place in the world to see the White Shark and we will show everything we have found about this species, which in fact was considered rare in Mexican waters and that we now know that much of its life is carried out in Mexican waters and we want to decipher the reason why, "explained the biologist.
The biologist commented that this shark, is hard to find on the Southern Californian coasts, however it has happened. Mauricio has participated as a scientific advisor in 13 national and international documentaries for channels such as: Channel 11, Discovery Channel, National Geographic and IMAX. He is a founding member of the Mexican Cartilaginous Fish Society and is a scientific advisor for Attached Fins and Saving Our Sharks. He is also co-founder and director of Pelagios Kakunjá, A.C.

Fognini tamed the Potro in a historic final at ATP Los Cabos 2018

The Italian Fabio Fognini became the new champion of the Tennis Open Los Cabos Mifel 2018 by defeating Argentine favorite Juan Martin del Potro in straight sets.

Giving a chair of intelligence and a solid game, Fognini canceled the main weapons of the Tandilense, who did not come out on his best day and who won by partial 6-4 and 6-2.

Delpo lost his service four times, two in the first set and twice in the second, with which he let slip the possibility of getting the Mexican double.

On the other hand, the grand final of doubles of the third Tennis Open with the crowning of the pair formed by the Mexican Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela and the Salvadoran Marcelo Arévalo.

The third pair of the seeding, defeated in the game for the title to the team integrated by the American Taylor Fritz and the Australian Thanasi Kokkinakis, with a score of 6-4 and 6-4, in one hour and 19 minutes.

The third edition of the ATP250 Los Cabos Open Tennis Tournament began with the participation of top-level tennis players like Juan Martín del Potro, who occupies the fourth position in the world ranking of professional tennis players; there will also be Sam Querrey from the States, number 13 and winner of the Los Cabos Open 2017; the italian Fabio Fognini who is placed at number 15, and the frenchman Adrian Mannarino at number 26.

Also the spaniard Feliciano López and the winner of the Los Cabos ATP in 2016, the croatian Ivo Karlovic.

The argentinean Juan Martin del Potro, known as Delpo, comes after the  quarterfinals in the recent and legendary Wimbledon tournament. Del Potro was the winner of the ATP Acapulco 2018 last february and now is in the possibility of reaching, for the first time, the third position in the world ranking.

In his presentation together with Fognini, said:

Juan Martín del Potro, Tennis Player: "... I think Acapulco and I suppose what the experience that I will have here in Los Cabos is what generates that all players like to come and play here, and hopefully it keeps growing because it fills us of pleasure to play again in this country ... "

He also commented on the Mexican fans and the support they have given him.

Recently at the Hotel Marquís and with the sponsorship of the same hotel and the company NTD Ingredients, a seminar was held on baking and its techniques in the preparation of various haute cuisine desserts offered by two prominent Mexican chefs who will represent Mexico in the next World Pastry Championship to be held in Lyon, France.

For his part, Chef Francisco Vázquez has a career of more than 25 years as a professional pastry chef. He participated as captain of the Mexican national team in the world cup of pastry in Lyon, France, 2011. He won the 1st place in the Copa Maya de Pastry in 2014.

The objective of both in this exhibition was to show a bit to the students of gastronomy and to fine pastry chefs, the way in which the materials are used to reach impressive results such as the sugar-based figure they made in the demonstration
