Los Cabos Airport Strengthens International Connectivity and Airport Infrastructure

The airport is consolidating its growth with seven routes confirmed for 2026, a historic investment, and modernization projects aimed at enhancing the travel experience for millions of passengers. Los Cabos International Airport presented the progress and strategic projects that will drive the growth and modernization of the air terminal during its 2026 Advisory Commission session, reaffirming Los Cabos' position as one of Mexico's most important international destinations. The destination's air connectivity continues to strengthen, with the addition of seven confirmed domestic and international routes for 2026, as well as the arrival of two new Canadian airlines that will bolster the international flight offerings to Los Cabos. These are Porter Airlines and Air Transat, which announced new flights to and from Los Cabos: Porter will begin operations this winter, connecting Los Cabos with Toronto (YYZ), Edmonton (YEG), and Ottawa (YOW); Air Transat will connect Los Cabos with Montreal (YUL). Additionally, Southwest has begun operations on the Los Cabos – Indianapolis (IND) route and will begin operating the Los Cabos – Las Vegas (LAS) route on June 4th; while Volaris will launch the Los Cabos – Puebla (PBC) route in June. These additions will bring the total number of available seats to over 100,000 for the destination. It was also reported that the airport continues to develop infrastructure projects planned by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP) within the 2025-2029 Master Development Plan (PMD), which includes investments of $6.991 billion pesos for the development and modernization of airport infrastructure in Los Cabos. Among the main projects of the PMD (Municipal Development Plan) is the expansion, remodeling, and reconfiguration of Terminal 2, which will increase its current area by 58%, incorporating new boarding gates, expanded departure lounges, new check-in and baggage claim areas, as well as operational and technological improvements to optimize the passenger experience. Additionally, the expansion of the commercial apron, access roads, and parking is planned, strengthening the airport's operational capacity in the face of the sustained growth of this tourist destination. During the Advisory Committee meeting, progress was also presented on passenger experience, accessibility, training, and sustainability programs, reaffirming the airport's vision of maintaining international service and operational standards. “Los Cabos continues to consolidate its position as one of Mexico's most important tourist destinations. At GAP, we remain committed to developing modern, efficient, and sustainable infrastructure that supports the destination's growth, strengthens its international connectivity, and continues to enhance the travel experience for our passengers,” stated Francisco Villaseñor Reyes, Director of the Los Cabos International Airport. Los Cabos International Airport maintains one of the most important air connectivity networks in the country, with operations to more than 50 national and international destinations, consolidating itself as a strategic gateway for tourism and economic development in Baja California Sur.
